I was recently diagnosed with epilepsy (at 34) but have a suffered with anxiety, depression and psychosis most of my life.

My question is, I’ve saw adverts for watches that can dedect seizures and wondered if there’s any funding help available for Poole my age. I’m so anxious and terrified to leave to house and I’ve already had 2 seizures while out. Thanks is advance. Sorry for the dumb question.

Hi, sorry I don’t know if there is any funding for these watches, I don’t know anything about these watches.

You could speak to your GP or neurologist or the Epilepsy society UK Who could advise you on this.

I understand you are going through a tough time. Remember we are all here and drugs do have side effects & try to talk to your GP or specialist concerning your issues. Yoga 🧘‍♀️ plus exercise really helps me with anxiety, which then helps my epilepsy.

If you ever want to talk.

Take care X. SJ

Hi, it's unlikely you'll get funding for watches however depending how severe your epilepsy is you can ask for a care needs assessment from your Adult Social Care (if you're in the uk) they may provide support to make things safer for you in the home even an service alarm (if you live on your own) could be possible. My wife has severe epilepsy so she as help with carers etc for which we're really grateful for.

No, I'm sorry. Are you talking about an Embrace watch. I'm trying out the ketogenic diet at the moment, because quite frankly I'm finding drugs hopeless now. I know there is some research being done in Australia by a scientist called Cooke on a device which predicts seizure, but it may be quite a while before that comes available to the people that really need it. Is anybody else out there trying the ketogenic diet?

It’s the Embrace I’d been researching. I’m a bit nervous about changing my diet because of other meds I have to take. Made a change last year and ended up ill. Good luck with it though, I hope it helps you. Keep us all updated on your progress.

I was diagnosed 23 years ago with epilepsy when I was pregnant. Since then I have lost my job because of memory problems, stopped driving, have got a disabled bus pass, tried numerous different medications and am now considering surgery after speaking to my neuro psychiatrist. I have been diagnosed with alexithymia and after reading numerous comments, think I may have finally found my answer. I am now trying to find an epileptologist near where I live.
