Headache symptom of pending seizure?

My 20 year old son who has temporal lobe or frontal lobe (TBD) epilepsy with nocturnal seizures is on highest dose Keppra 4,000 mg / day and Vimpat 400 mg day. His V had to be inc. twice the last 2 months. He woke me up an hour ago to say he woke up with stabbing headache on left side of his head. It already went away and he said he is fine. Wondering if that is a sign he may have a seizure and med is failing again. Any comments?

I can’t say I’m on lepta and lamotrogine I get really bad headaches aswell sometimes they are so bad I can’t put my head down because my head hurts , I’m not saying this is going to happen to your son so please don’t panic we are all different, but my left eye closes aswel and I don’t how to open it normally I have to do it with my hands my consultant doesn’t seem to listen but it could be down to medication. Sorry not much help but I do feel for him

That’s sad the consultant doesn’t listen when they are supposed to be managing medications with concern for effectiveness and negative side effects.

Hi

I only take 4500mg of Keppra for my epilepsy.

I remember I used to take Keppra and lamotrigine, taking both worked for a while but then made me so tired I wasn't even able to work, however my consultant was really good and took me off lamotrigine and kept me on Keppra.

Tiredness and stress are my triggers I am lucky I've not had a seizure for 5 years now.

I've not taken the other one you mention but my niece has really bad headaches before hers and has to stay in bed.

Everyone's epilepsy affects them differently I would definitely recommend speaking to your sons consultant again maybe get another eeg and blood tests done to see how his medication is working for him.

Hope you get sorted.
