Hi all

I am a 29 year old man who's suffered with seizures for the past year and a half. They randomly happen but I can normally tell when it's about to happen as I'll slowly fall down and lost control of my legs, and I'll get an aura in the left part of my vision. And during the seizure it is always only the left side of my body which jerks and twitches. And when happening whilst I'm asleep it can lead me to wetting the bed and biting tongue.

Does this happen to anyone else when having a seizure?

Thanks

Hi,

I have had epilepsy since I was 4 and am now 41 . That used to happen a lot but as I got older the seizures happen when I am not even feeling any symptoms like twitches and auras etc that you mentioned. Mine are classed as stress induced but even when i think I’m fine they just happen. When it comes to sleeping that isn’t really a problem now but it was a for a while and once every so often I do still bite my tongue during one . As I suffer with so many different types of seizures it’s hard to tell which one I have had . I have even been told that I had a weird one where I started speaking Arabic to my partner . When she told me what I said to her and I had to translate it she wasn’t too impressed.

Hopefully there are some meds that can help you with your types of seizures.

Good luck

Hello

Thanks for your response. What type of medication have you been prescribed if you dont mind me asking? I was started on Topiramate but when they didnt seem to have an effect have since been switched over to Lamotrigine, 100mg twice a day. I sometimes get seizures when playing football, has this happened to anyone when playing sport?

Good luck to you too bro

Hi ,

I’m on Brivaracetam 100mg twice a day , Citalopram 20mg once a day , Lacosomide 100mg twice a day and an extra 50 mg ( half ) lacosomide twice a day . It really doesn’t help because I end up sleeping most of the day and can have really bad mood swings if woken up .

When it comes to sports I never followed or played football as I was into motorcycle/motocross racing . I wasn’t allowed a licence to race so I stuck to the off road racing and never had a problem. I think it was down to being an adrenaline rush rather than stressful that I didn’t have a problem that way .
