aggressive colleague

Hi everyone, I would like to seek advice regarding workplace discrimination. I work as a admin and just recently struggle with office fluorescent light. I ask my colleague if we can turn off the light in the morning in wintertime and on when it gets dark. (not too dark). I even requested the head of the department to provide him a two table lamp cause he complains that his eyes are straining. Even we have a huge window that gives natural light. he still can't consider my request, cause it affects his well being. he then outburst (aggressive behavior) pick up his office chair and push it to his desk.

I am so stressed and feel so threatened by his hostile behavior. I already spoke to the line manager and dept manager regarding his behavior but no support.

I am so sorry to hear about that, it’s really difficult to try and make people understand. I agree with @Seddy85, an incident like this can be reported to the HR department. As someone who struggles sometimes with fluorescent lighting, I found that darkening all forms of bright lights myself helped balance any environment I was in that did have bright lights. My phone screen, computers, dark curtains, etc. So I’d say also try and make sure u find what’s suitable to u, as well as involving HR/your GP. Hope all goes well and know that there are people who do support you x

My colleague has a similar case and she went to the Union and my company has set up a different working environment for her that her desk has got like shades to block the bright lights from getting to her.

It's my colleague not me. She's with Unison. My company has to make sure where she sits she's protected by the bright lights
