Hi,

I'm new here.

I've had epilepsy for the past 35 years and it has been really bad the past 4 years since I started menopause.

Allopathic medicine hasn't worked.

Been on tegretol for 30 years. When doctor put me on 2 other medicines in past 4 years, both have severe reactions and had to go to hospital..

Back on just tegretol but it is not working as good as before.

I read that medications don't work on about 30% of people with epilepsy.

Wondering if anyone has tried other healing methods.

Thank you so much

I have used Tegretol for a while now and had other medications added that have side effects, I now take medication to counteract those side effects, it has worked to a degree but I am still having odd seizures now and again. But on the plus side seizures have been massively reduced.

Hi Susan

For some women their epilepsy does change during menopause. Currently there’s not enough information about this. More research is needed: epilepsy.org.uk/info/women/...

You may want to have a look at our information on vagal nerve stimulation and on the ketogenic diet. These are not suitable for everyone, but they’re worth knowing about: epilepsy.org.uk/info/treatm...

If you are trying any other treatment it is always good to discuss this first with your doctor or pharmacist. Some things are not recommended if you have epilepsy. And some treatments can interact with epilepsy medicines. epilepsy.org.uk/info/treatm...

I really hope things settle down for you soon.

Regards

Cherry
