stomach acid
I don't understand this stomach acid 'thing'. I take a proton pump inhibitor for high stomach acid but people insist that as you get older you're stomach acid reduce. I'm 79. Also that doctors erroneously mistake low stomach acid for high!! What is going on? Any thoughts

Laxido longterm use
Hi all,I've been taking 1,sometimes 2 laxido sachets daily for the past 3 months and this has helped. My gastroenteritis has suggested swapping for prucalopride 1mg but this gives me all day stomach ache.My question is,is laxido safe to use daily long term?

still not diagnosed but concerned about IBS
Sorry for lengthy post I am new here. I started an antibiotics course (one week) Doxycycline on 24 April 2023 for throat infection and fever,as soon I finish it, I started having diarrhoea. That time I was in very stress and depression for another reason. It's been almost over 9 months now. Diarrhea

Help! Stomach Bug & Holiday!
For over a week I have had some sort of stomach bug with awful pains in the lower stomach, causing loose stools, feeling chilled then hot, with a recurring headache. I contacted my doctor asking for urgent stool tests, as I am due to go on holiday to Spain next Monday, just in case it is a stomach bug

Normal endoscopy... will going lactose free help?
Hi everyone, Had a gastroscopy yesterday and fortunately nothing was discovered with everything appearing normal. Obviously I'm very relieved that nothing awful was found but I still haven't found out what is causing my reflux pain and excessive burping. I am a month into using lanzaprozole and gaviscon

Hi, I'm a 36 yr old male. 10 years ago I underwent multiple test fit test, breath test, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. At the end of it I was diagnosed with IBS. In August I got covid and my health anxiety sparked up again. Everything ache and pain I thought was cancer. In November I thought I felt a

ibs an a wee rant
Hi, it’s been a while since I last posted re ibs. It’s been 20 odd years that I’ve gradually suffered (more) with what I thought and was told was ibs. I’ve tried various diets/ over counter meds/ prescribed meds, basically spent a small fortune trying out various things. Over the last few years my diarrhoea

h pylori on endoscopy but negative on stool and blood test
I have suffered with severe constipation for the last three years and stomach issues for the last 6 months. I had stool and blood test for h pylori in October last year. Both of these tests came back as negative. More recently I had an endoscopy because I got to the point where I felt really full

No to Lansoprazole
Well my GP is not prepared to issue me a prescription for Lansoprazole as she says my results from the endoscopy having been on esomeprazole for now over 3 and a half years prove that it is effective and 30mg Lansoprazole may not be so . She is willing to reconsider if the GI consultant says different

No endoscopy
Hi I hope everyone is having a positive day. I seen my consultant for the first time this week the previous 2 times with the nurse. And it is now back to the nurse for 6 monthly visits. The consultant has advised she is going to prescribe a beta blocker to help prevent varices which they have advised

What exclusionary tests should I ask my doctor for? IL-6 inflammation tests? + other random PMR questions
I'm a 44-year old woman fairly confident I have PMR due to the symptoms I've experienced & the dramatic success of prednisone in treating them. (I put a longer backstory in my profile - which I'm assuming you can access.) I worry somewhat about GCA involvement because when my symptoms have been strong

Pain after an Endoscopy
I had an endoscopy two weeks ago mainly looking to see if I needed any banding. I was lucky as this was not required and would not need another endoscopy for 3 years. The reason for my post on here is that since having the endoscopy I have endured pain in my left-hand side of the stomach as well as

Very relieved .......
I am very relieved to say that the results of the biopsy from my recent endoscopy querying suspected Barretts have come back as negative. All other biopsy also clear. I know I am extremely lucky , it has been a very worrying time and it was such a relief to be able to tell my son as well. I have

Hoping for some coping advice
Hi all, I’ve suffered with IBS for years, had colonoscopy, endoscopy and CT scan end 2021, all clear. Recently had proctitis (treated well) but now my bowels have gone crazy and new feelings I’ve never had!! Really bad bloating, gurgling, stomach cramps pain under left rib, going into back. IBS -

bile reflux
I thought I would bring you all up to speed on my endoscopy yesterday ( Friday 15 March ). I have to say I was surprised by the results, I have Bile reflux, something I didn’t even know existed. It was a bit of a shock if I am honet. So me being me , I read up about it when I got home, as most things

Is there a difference between Barrett’s tongue and barretts oesophagus ?
I have been trying to research this since my endoscopy showed “possible Barrett’s tongue” Biopsy has been taken to rule this out which I hope is a positive sign , but does anyone have experience of this term? I understand that it is associated with hiatal hernia although my reflux issues aren’t too

Very confused and don't know what to do to help my body heal
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and up to 6 weeks ago the only digestive concerns I had was Coeliac Disease and a sliding hiatal hernia which was discovered at my endoscopy 4 years ago. The hernia hasn't given me any bother up to this point except for the occasional bout of acid reflux every couple

Gallstones are actually a hernia/ulcers
Hi everyone, hope you are all as well as you can be. I had my endoscopy this week to see if they could find the suspected gallstones. Instead they found a large hiatus hernia, plus multiple stomach ulcers. This explains why I have been in so much pain, in a constant state of nausea, and off work for

PMR flare!
I think I may be in the midst of a flare. Haven't felt quite right for the past week or so, I am thinking due to stress over recent diagnosis of hiatus hernia and endoscopy. JOY !!! Certainly lot of the old symptoms are back, history of reducing from 10mg to 9mg with no success whatsoever and
