Cervical ectropian anyone?

Has anyone been told they have an ectropian cervix? And is it related to endo at all? I get pains in my cervix fairly often, not sure if it's because of the ectropian or endo. I don't know much about it...

Look up cervical erosion as it's the same thing and probably more commonly called erosion than ectropian. But basically imaging the cervix as a doughnut, where the doughnut that was the walls of the central hole has rolled down to now be at the bottom of the doughnut.

Not an endo issue as such. Something you are either born with, or can happen due to pregnancy or sexual activity or surgery. You'll probably be called in for smear tests on it periodically to check all is well in the cells.

It can be an issue for heavy period bleeds.

I was told by my Gp that I had a cervical ectropian after an examination but i still got proffered! i was all prepared to have this ectropian confirmed but the gyno, next thing you know I'm being told I have to have an op as they think it's endo this was in the space if four days! mine is extremely painful with periods and also intercourse, gyno says I may need my cervix lasering to help pain, an ectropian can also be caused by the pill sometimes apparently! may be worth having another examination to confirm it's just that and not endo too!

Thanks so much! Well that's the thing, I was first told I had it a few years ago, before I'd had sex, before I'd ever been on the pill, before I'd had surgery, so really there should be no reason?! but I'm awaiting a laparoscopy to confirm endo, as its suspected by my consultant. But he hasn't mentioned the ectropian. I never really put the two together until yesterday. But my cervix was agony with the coil recently, and is terrible with sex, but I get deep pain too hence the consultant suspicion of endo. Thanks Natalie1234 for your comment. I'll mention is to the gynae when I go in for my op and he can take a look. x
