Can the mirena be inserted during a period?

I've an appointment to get the mirena fitted on tuesday. My period was due on Thursday, but has decided not to show yet. All the symptoms are there and I'm defo not pregnant. If I have my period on Tuesday can we still go ahead or will it all have to be rescheduled?

Hi there yes,this is the time to have it fitted. Mines coming up to 4yrs and i remember being in full flow when i went to make an appointment. Because i was on they said the would do it there and then as perfect time. Good luck. Should be pain free but recommend some analgesics before you go in. Hope you get some relief with it.ive been lucky that it eventully stopped my periods and therefore no horrendous monthly pain . xxJ
