Hi Ladies, have any of you had eggs frozen on the NHS in Wales or England because of Endometriosis? If so, how did you go about it?

Thanks

Kirsty xx

Hi

I asked a few years ago and they said no, as freezing eggs was not that successful if they were unfertilised. It was not being offered on the nHs then except for people who were about to undergo chemo for cancer treatment.

May be different if fertilised but I was single so didn't peruse. I did try a private clinic but they said I would be better off trying to get preg sooner rather than later as again freezing not so good for just eggs. The suggested ivf and donor sperm.

May have all changed now thou. Best of luck x

Hi Ladies,

Thank you for replying =) so I had my appointment today and 'Monday', he said everything that you said here! =) Im down on the waiting list now to start IVF with donor sperm as I have no partner and they said waiting is not an option if I wish to try for children. I asked about egg freezing and like 'Monday' said, he believes that is usually unsuccessful, especially in patients with severe endo like myself as egg quality is like to be good. He said that egg freezing is only offered to a small selection of Cancer patients on the NHS and if I was to pay private, it would cost at least £6,000 which is crazy. I'm lucky that my Endo specialist, is also a top fertility specialist so he can advise whats best for me from what he has seen in my abdomen...'Lynnie846' I'd definitely speak with your GP about being referred to somebody to find out if you qualify, if only to give you options.

Best of luck with everything xx
