hi,

I’m due my first period after my laparoscopy this week; just wondered what your experiences were? I’m really anxious about everything at the moment. Thank you 😊

It feels like a really bad flare up. Have some pain killers at the ready. If your not on prescribed pain meds try and get some over the counter cocodimol as I found that is better than paracetamol and lots of heat on your back or away from insisions (hot water bottle/heat pad). I found that helps numb it. Try not to do too much, but once it's over that's the worst of it done 💗 hope your recovering well x

Hi I had my lap and removal of endometriosis a week ago today and my period is due today, ive been spotting off an on since the Lap and have been sore over last few days, I walked (too much) yesterday and was really sore last night, not sure what to expect either this week, ive the painkillers at the ready and hot water bottle in situ!

I’m dreading it to be honest. My lap was around 10 days ago now where they removed a lot and I’ve been spotting on and off since too. I think the worse is the anxiety around it all and the best thing personally for anxiety is exercise which obviously is limited at the moment. Xx

hey Laura, I’m three weeks post op, my first period was due a few days after the lap and I was about 5 days late. My experience wasn’t good I found it really really painful, I was taking prescription cocodamol. but I have heard others say the first period they felt relief already, I think it differs for everyone! I have adenomyosis too so could have been from that. Hope your recovery is going well xxx

Hey, my first two periods after my lap were very painful and heavy but I only bled for 3 days where as before I was 7-10 days.

Just make sure you rest, take plenty of painkillers (without taking too many), if you have a heat pad/heat teddy make sure you always have that too.

All the best 😊

Hello, they can be very painful so I would recommend hot water bottle/heat pad / medication. Plenty of rest. However not all women are the same so you may be pain free. Best of luck ❤️

Hello, my two periods after surgery was a bit less painful (1%), like I have all the symptoms and pain but without vomiting, and that's an improvement for me. I'm always afraid from it's pain it's a nightmare, and I hope you'll feel relief after lap 🤗 hugs

thank you. It’s been slightly more bearable. I had quite a lot on my bowel and I definitely feel there’s been an improvement there. Who knows! Finding myself getting all worked up about it all and need to find some coping mechanisms xx
