Cancelled surgery due to COVID :(

Littlenestofvipers profile image

So after a year waiting for my surgery and following every rule and continuing to wear my mask everywhere - I have tested positive for covid when I was FINALLY due to have my laparoscopy tomorrow. Gutted is an understatement. Does anyone have any idea how the rescheduling works? Is it once I can show a negative PCR and does anyone know how long a PCR can show positive for?

Omg that’s so frustrating. My hysterectomy was cancelled on the day (4 yrs ago) I was gowned up ready to go so was so annoyed, they rescheduled for the following month but obvs pre covid times. I hope you feel ok and get some news soon xx

Oh my god I would be seething! I really hope they can reschedule me in quickly. I’ve read that some cancer treatments get refused until you can show negative PCR and it can take up to 5 months :( I hope this isn’t the case but it doesn’t feel promising… frustrating it was cancelled over the weekend so I’ve been waiting until tomorrow to call the booking line

It’s all the arrangements you have made to get to this point. it’s so bad especially when u have been so careful. Have u done any lateral flows to see if negative now? My son had covid and we have just emerged from isolation, he had no symptoms at all. He did a lateral flow 2 days after his positive PCR and it was negative. Good luck and keep us posted xx

I’ve done 6 lateral flows and they’re all negative but PCR from Friday was positive. No symptoms until last night and now I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck 😩 I’m double vaxxed too which makes it even more frustrating. Only had my second vax 8 weeks ago and had an antibody count of 11,000 (they say anything over 50 is good - yeah right!) glad you’re done is better now and you’re out of isolation ❤️ xxx

Hi lovely! Thanks for checking in. Yes I did, they’ve rescheduled for 28th Sept, they have to wait at least 7 weeks and won’t covid re test before surgery but will do another pre assessment with extra tests to make sure I’m ok for anaesthetic! Glad it’s not tooooo long to wait, but I’m gonna have to rearranged my trip abroad to meet my baby niece and nephew for the first time 😩❤️ x

Hi there,

How long did you had to wait.

It happened with me too. Operation was due on Thursday 7th July but got a call on Wednesday saying I tested positive for covid.

I have been told I need to wait 7 weeks for recovery before they can give me a date and atm they aren’t sure when the next date will be available.
