endo - feeling very low

Hey guys,

Not really sure what the purpose of me writing this is, but i’m just really struggling at the moment. I’m 24 and i’m currently waiting for a laparoscopy to diagnose endo.. i used to have pains around my period time but now i’m in pain pretty much every day! it’s getting me down so much :( i just feel myself crying most days and i can tell my family are fed up with it.. I now experience spotting after sex which just freaks me out even more. I’ve had scans (which all came back clear) and pelvic examinations (i was diagnosed with cervical erosion a month ago) which i guess explains the spotting after sex and i know this can occur with endo. I just have the most intense pains in my pelvis area, my lower back, grown and upper thighs and it makes me feel horrendous. I just don’t know how to deal with the pain, it’s getting to the point where ibuprofen barely works. I wondered if anyone else has all of these exact symptoms too?

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a tough time; I can totally relate. After over a year of waiting, I finally have my lap booked in for next month. Am also now in pain most days and my hormones are all over the place, very tearful and feeling drained. I am older than you but have a large family to try and be cheerful for - not easy! You start to feel that you have to put on a brave face but again it's not easy. I really hope that you hear about your lap soon, for some reason that has given me a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. This is a good forum to get all your feelings out and everyone here can sympathise and fully understand what you're going through. I hope you get some let up - I went out for a walk first thing this morning, cold but sunny and it definitely lifted my mood. Though I know walking is hard for some, it has been my saving grace and worth the pain afterwards! Take care xx

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through a similar time :( it is definitely hard to stay upbeat, especially when you are experiencing pain majority of the time. I’ve been reading online to constantly push for a referral which i did (to the point where my GP properly now hates me lol). But it worked!! i saw a gynae on the thursday just gone and i have my laparoscopy booked in for the 19th april - just shows even via NHS if you push they’ll sort it out for you! I’m definitely going to take your advice on go on a few morning walks, i think that’ll help mentally for sure! I’m so happy for you that you have your lap booked in, fingers crossed you finally get the diagnosis and can work on different treatment plans to help with your symptoms! thank you so much for messaging, i’ve felt so alone so that’s really comforting. I wish you all the best and please keep me posted! x

Yes, I really had to make a nuisance of myself too, which I hated to have to do during a pandemic! But sadly, we have to. I'm very glad to hear you have your lap booked in. Please do let me know how you get on - not long to wait now for some answers, which I guess is what we both want. Being in pain and not knowing exactly why is so difficult. Whilst the lap is the first step, it is an important one to help us fight against the feeling that it's all in our heads! My circular thinking has been doing my head in! Good luck with it all x

You are not alone! I’m 25 and had my lap in December. The whole process has been difficult and the pain/bleeding after sex gets me down too. But now you’re having something done about it, the only way is up! I found it cathartic just to get the diagnosis - knowing there was actually something wrong rather than just something I would have to deal with forever. It’s tough, especially at our age (when sex is meant to be fun!). Try to get your gp/gynae to give you more painkillers - if you tell them that the pain is impacting your daily life they will help. Naproxen helped me a lot, so did co-codamol when it was really bad. I would also recommend getting the coil - it’s essentially stopped my periods and therefore my pain. My doctor inserted the coil during my lap so very easy. It took some time to adjust to the hormones but stick with it. Hope this helps xx

So sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. Some people find that they get relief by going on the pill. Have you spoken to your doctor about this possibility? Also, do you have a tens machine? They don't often take all the pain the away, but they can give a certain amount of relief. Another thing worth looking into is doing a food diary for a while. I discovered that if I have more than 3 cups of jasmine green tea in a month, I can end up in hospital, the pain is so bad. And do you take any fish oil or omega 3 oil? I've often used the Eskimo -3 Advanced EPA formula, but I'm about to try the Igennus Vegepa Omega 3&6. Here's an article I've just found too, that might be of interest to you. I hope you get some relief soon. It's hard when those around you don't understand, but do remember, you are of immense value!!! Big hug to you. nicolejardim.com/cause-of-p...

Know how you feel. 27 and had a lap in December. Still suffer with all the symptons and at the end of my tether with feeling bad all the time. Wish I knew how to feel better.

I am so sorry to hear about your struggles. It sounds like you need a stronger anti-inflammatory pain killer, something that requires a prescription from a doctor. Have you discussed this with your doctors? Endo is basically inflammation and that’s why it hurts so bad. Hope you will feel better soon!!

Thanks so much for your replies guys.. it really means a lot! i’m glad i have somewhere to talk to others who know exactly how i feel. I’m definitely going to speak to my doctor and see if they have any stronger pain killers that i can take! i’d rather not take any at all, but some days it makes me really down to the point where i feel like there’s not really another option! i have my period coming in two days (i’m on the pill so know what day i’m due on) and already started to spot etc so can tell this is going to be a bad one! i’m definitely going to try omega tablets as well as my mums been suggesting this to me for a very long time!! hope you’re all well and doing okay, i appreciate all of the messages and advice! xxx
