Hi, not sure if anyone can advise me here.. I am 21 years old and had a observation with a speculum in December where my doctor found ‘red inflamed patches’ so was refered for a colposcopy and to the gynaecologist.. gynaecologist did same examinations and found the patches were slightly larger / more of than described from first screaming 8 weeks later still no colposcopy and was warned these patches could bleed if irritated. Now every time after intercourse I am bleeding for a week straight... where do I go from here ???

Am I been fobbed off?! I am going crazy with worry!

I will also add she has advised it’s unlikely to be endo, but surely I should be having a colposcopy by now my first screeening was in December.

Hello it may be cervical ectropian. Its where cells that are usually on the neck of the cervix are found on the face. It can cause the fever of the cervix to appear red and they can bleed on contract. Common in those who take hormonal contraceptives. It can clear up by itself.

Give your gp a call to chase up the colposcopy appointment. It may just be that referrals are taking longer at the moment.

Sounds like cervical ectropion. I've had it myself on and off for years. You can have it lasered but doesn't always work. I've had laser treatment and silver nitrate treatment but it comes back, its just annoying. Have you had clear smear tests?

Although I’m no expert, it sounds to me like a cervical ectropion too. I’ve had mine treated 3 times. It’s considered a very minor procedure to a gynaecology team and it’s a quick treatment too.

However we always need to follow up to make sure everything else is ruled out. Don’t worry, just chase up a follow up appointment. The NHS are so busy at the moment, however try to get hold of the colposcopy team at your local hospital. They will be able to point you in the right direction.

I was told I had an inflamed cervix a few years ago and cervical ectropion is what I was told as well, likely caused by pill they said. I was told it wasn’t anything to worry about and colposcopy was just to double check. They didn’t find anything then either. I didn’t have treatment for it and bleeding settled down over time. Then I came off the pill and not had any further issues with it. Hope that helps 123070999 x
