Laparoscopy during flare?

Hi all. I’m having my first lap done on Wednesday and I’m also mid flare up. My whole tummy is swollen again, horrendous back pains and unable to bend down properly. Has anyone had their lap done mid flare? I’m so anxious about it already and I fear I’ll be so inflamed and swollen.

Thank you x

Hiya.So sorry to hear you’re in pain.

Just wanted to give you reassurance that I had my first lap 23rd December and I had been in constant pain about 3 months and my belly was really swollen. I woke up after the op (had 2 very large cysts removed, my left tube removed, nearly all endo removed and adhesions sorted) and it was the most pain free I’d ever known in the past few months. My stomach was swollen but only slightly (a lot less than it was before the op) and that was loads better after about a week and now it’s back to normal.

Tomorrow I am 3 weeks post op and I have to say it’s the best thing I’ve ever done and I’ve even had a period since which was a breeze in comparison to every period I’ve ever had.

I know everyone heals completely differently but I know I would have been grateful to hear this before my operation, especially as (like you) I was mid flare up too.

Hope it goes as well as it possibly can for you and wishing you a speedy recovery If you have any questions please feel free to message me xxx🙂

Thanks so much for your reply. Was yours done by a BSGE specialist? Mine is being done by a normal gynaecologist and I don’t know why but it worries me 😓xx

Mine was a normal gynaecologist too which I was worried about. But I can’t even tell you how great he was. He rung me the morning of my op before I went to hospital to check in and also ask if I had questions or if my family did as no visitors allowed. He said he didn’t mind speaking to them on the phone at that point too. Got to hospital and he asked again as I’d had time to think. He then also rung my family after the operation for a long time too. I could not fault him so although it was a massive concern for me I really didn’t need to worry. Hope that makes you feel better Xx

I can’t even explain how much better that info has made me feel 🙏🏻 Thank you so much. I don’t think I’ll get a call or anything but as long as I’m safe that’s ok xxx

If you have any questions please inbox me. I really wish I hadn’t been so concerned. I would definitely recommend a pillow for the drive home though xxx
