Hi everyone, hope you’re doing okay. I’ve had some conflicting advice from the hospital so would be great to hear what advice others have had. I have been diagnosed with deep endo in my bowel area and adhesions between by left ovary and uterus. I’m currently having tests to see if it looks like my fertility is affected. One consultant has said I might want to look at having surgery to remove endo as this may help with trying to get pregnant. However another consultant has told me that due to where my endo is - I should try to get pregnant first because due to where my endo is near the bowel there is a risk that my organs could be damaged with the surgery. What have others been told? I’ve also been advised to go back onto the pill for three months to get my endo symptoms under control whilst I’m having my fertility tests and then start trying to get pregnant. I’m also aware that I’m getting older and worried about delaying trying to get pregnant any longer. I’m not really sure what steps I should take next. Has anyone had some helpful advice on fertility to share? Thanks x

Fertility and endo
Hey, sorry to hear this. It’s tough to have conflicting advice. I am in the similar position...I have been advised to carry on trying for a baby for a bit longer before I should have surgery (just in case surgery causes more damage)...I think for me I probably can’t carry on much longer Due to the pain, so surgery is looking like the right option for me personally in a few months.
I would say that if you’re working with a BSGE specialist for endometriosis then you have the best chance for successful surgery that preserves your fertility.
I saw 2 different consultants before I decided who I trusted the most. My surgeon of choice is a BSGE endo specialist and fertility specialist so I feel I’m in safe hands.
Wishing you all the best
Hi, sorry to hear about your struggles. I had endo in exactly the same areas as you and my right ovary was adhered to my womb. I had surgery when I was in my mid 20s and unfortunately had to lose the ovary. I've since had to have surgery again and take the pill to ease symptoms. My womb lining is now so thin from years of taking the pill that I won't be able to carry a child. The upside is that I no longer have any pain and lead a full life. If you are able to have a child now and it's what you want, go for it because you don't know what will happen in the future. Good luck and big hugs
