I was diagnosed with endo sept 2019 at the age of 29. And was admitted into hospital in Dec for being severely anaemic from having really bad periods and clotting and had two transfusions they sent me home on iron tablets and the mini pill. In jan this year I took myself to a&e because I was out of breath again on my period for a month and having the same symptoms so the pill did not help. But this time I needed 3 blood transfusions because I had lost so much blood from heavy periods the gyne saw me and booked me in for a lap and the coil was fitted to. I was in hospital for a week but my surgery went well and they removed what they needed to. Since then I have had a scan internal and external. But the gyne called me to say my coil had moved and must have been from the internal scan. In march my period has been the same as before surgery and now I'm getting really bad pain to my lower left side. My check up is next week but I don't think this will be happening because of the virus so I may have a phone consultation.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? As now I'm thinking the coil actually has no benefit to me now it's moved and I don't want to be in this pain anymore.
Many thanks in advance x

Hey. Im also new to this site, signed up just today. Your situation sounds sort of similar to mine. Im 25 and was diagonised this time last year, when I had a lap to remove what they could in the abdomen area. However a few months ago my period started getting heavy again and painful, so a month ago they fitted the coil. Since then I have had awful cramps and pains, and have been bleeding for a whole month. a few weeks ago they found a cyst in my ovary which is related to the endometriosis, they also said the endo has come back and I need another lap. But for a few days now I have , like you, had awful pain in my lower left side specifically. I went to a and e yestrday and had an internal scan, but they seemed to think it was just the endometriosis growing back. I am due to have a lap, however that has been put on hold because of Covid, like you. I am also confused about whether the coil is helping because so far its caused so much pain, more than before it was fitted. But I have heard that it does help control the growing back of endometriosis, so maybe it is good to stick with it? Sorry, I hope this is helpful - if nothing else it is just to say that I feel your pain and can totally relate - its frustrating to have to wait to get this sorted! xxx
Thats so strange I only signed up today to. Sorry to hear about your pain. My gyne did say it takes 6months and be patient with it. But because I had an internal scan it has now moved out of position and with whats going on doctors at my gp are working from home so no one can put it back in place. However after my lap my period after was fine I didnt have pain or heavy bleeding it's only been last year and beginning of this year I've had problems.
Hey both, I’m not sure if this helps at all.. I have endo, have been diagnosed for a just over a year. I had the coil in place for 2-3 years in which I was told to be patient with it but unfortunately it didn’t help my endo one bit, it actually made it worse.
Everyone is different so I really hope it helps you eventually but from personal experience the coil didn’t prevent my endo like the combined pill does. I had years of trying to be patient with it like I was told but it just never settled and I had years of not controlling my periods, months of heavy bleeding in a row .. basically all the usual bad endo stuff!
(Also the mini pill didn’t work for me either!) ☺️
