Hi everyone

I'm new on here and have previously never been on any kind of forum so I'm a complete novice at this all.

I just wanted to say a 'hello' to everyone on here and was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful tips and advice on how I can cope on a day to day basis with my endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Luckily I don't have severe pains, unless I'm on my periods but I've had heavy and painful periods for as long as I remember and have learnt to manage this. My issue is with the daily pain that I now suffer. I've had chronic pelvic and back pain for the past 7 months now. The pain is mild to moderate but I have it every day unfortunately. The days I find it hard to cope I just take pain killers.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest things which could help me with my condition. Is there a diet I can follow? Can I try other forms of medicine? Any particular exercises? Any advice would be much appreciated...

Looking forward to hearing from you all

Hi. I also had chronic pelvic pain for months. Struggled to get pain relief but finally found the right meds for me. Gabapentin. Changed my life! Have also had temporary relief with naproxen.

I have hot baths, use heat pads & hot water bottles & find walking helps. Good luck.

Hi

Thank you for your reply. I've never heard of gabapentin, I'll look into. Just feels so depressing to think I may need to take medication all my life.

I've noticed that taking a hot shower actually relieves my pain. I'm going to try a hot bath now when I get the chance to.

Thank you for the advice :-)

Hi, I dont have any experience with bad pains with my endometriosis, butni have heard of an endometriosis diet. Have a google and see what you can find xx

Thank you florence nightingale. I didn't realise there was a diet for endometriosis. Will google it!

Me neither, but with not having much pain I didnt look into it. Did you find anything useful x

Yes actually. There's quite a few articles etc as well. Pretty much all of them state the same things: avoid red meat, gluten, caffeine and sugars, and processed and fatty foods.

Best things to eat are like the usual fruit and vegetables plus turmeric, omega 3 fatty acids and rice.

Thanks for the suggestion :-)

Oh great! Hope it works for you. It's a shame GPs dontninform patients of anything that can help. Have you tried NHS Choices website too xx

When I went to see the specialist for the first time last month I felt rhat my appointment was rushed and I couldn't ask the many questions I had in mind. I assumed the doctor will just give me loads of information and advice but I had to basically prompt it out of him. I was so nervous and confused that I couldn't even remember what I wanted to ask either and left. My next appointment isn't until 6 months time. Felt like it was just like "you have this condition and just keept taking this medication"

Honestly, feel so clueless about my health.

My point being that clinicians can di so much to help us and inform us and I feel like they don't

It's awful when that happens. I find it helps to take a note pad and wrote down your questions. You can also write down the info they give you. It makes much more sense to you when you get home too as you usually forget everything the second you walk out.

You will.probably find most of the info you need in forums like this and credible websites. Hope it all settles down for you xx

That's what I'll do next time for sure.

Thanks for all your advice florence nightingale :-)
