Should I go to the GP?

I was diagnosed with endometriosis on 10/10/19 via laparoscopy, and had an excision. I also had the Kyleena coil fitted whilst I was under general anaesthetic.

Recovery was fine, the first week was very painful, but by the second it had calmed down and I was just tired.

It’s now been just over 4 weeks (no pain 3rd/4th week) and I haven’t had a proper period yet which is expected from the coil, however the pains I’ve been having have been immense this week.

I’m waking up every morning with bad lower back pain (the kind I had with endo before I was diagnosed), but also, I keep getting random waves of intense stabbing, sharp pains in my uterus area which then turns into a dull pain, when these episodes come I feel like I’m going to be sick and pass out. Codeine isn’t even taking the pain away.

I was wondering if you think I should go to the GP, I’m a bit worried about the coil as at my post-op appointment my doctor didn’t check for the strings and I’m concerned it might not be in the right place as I’ve heard of so many horror stories.

Or, do you think it’s because I’m due a period and it’s just period pains?

I really hope each month isn’t like this with the coil because the pains are even worse than before.

I was diagnosed with peritoneal endometriosis so behind the womb in the lining between the pelvis and the abdomen, more was found on the left side. And yes I had the operation done privately.

I had a coil fitted last year during my lap. I found the pain horrendous. I nearly collapsed/passes out a few times when I was outside. I had to hang onto a shop display and when really white apparently. It was in the right place but for me it was agony. My GP removed it after about 10 weeks. I think it's one of those 50/50 things. People either love it or find it unbearable. The fact that yours has suddenly got more painful might indicate it's moved. I'd definitely go to your GP and get it checked!
