Lap, hysteroscopy and cervical cautery

Hi folks

Had a lap, hysteroscopy and cautery on my cervix 9 weeks ago. Doc suspected endo but luckily it was clear and very thankful. I had quite a large part of my cervix frozen/burnt due to erosion which has been caused by hormone/the pill.

So 9 weeks later I am still bleeding, experiencing pain in my abodome, period type cramps and shooting pains. I bleed if I try do do any physical exercises and sex will not happen as it is just too painful (tried on 8 week mark). I am frustrated as I don't know what has caused such a slow healing process for such a small procedure. I was examined and taken some swabs two weeks ago but swabs clear and doc told me I had some bad inflammation. He was unable to use a clamp when he examined me as the pain was unreal.

I am waiting to see him again as I have some pelvic pain now and I am worried. Before this I was tested for PID but all clear. Has anyone had anything similar please?

Hello,

I had some bad cells removed my cervix a few years ago and my cervix didn't heal very well at all, I bled heavily for 2 weeks before I was admitted again, it was cauterized numerous times and vaginally packed which is probably the worst thing i've ever had done, none of it worked though so I had to be put under GA to cauterize it properly, in the end I had a gauze placed over it, that finally worked. They had no idea why it wouldn't stop bleeding, swabbed me for infections etc but nothing came back. I guess some unlucky few seem to have an intense blood supply to the cervix. Have you improved at all? Sounds miserable, I hope they sort it soon Xx

Thanks so much for this Katy. I feel this is the next step for me, I had cautery done due to microgynon around age 21, I'm now 27 and it's happened again but consultant is convinced it's not pill related as I am now on yasmin and have been for 3 years. I've also heard cautery isn't something that takes well for everyone, I went back to consultant last week and he said to let nature take its course and to go back to basics no bathing just showering etc, I am trying to stay away from any excersize which is killing me nine weeks later! He hasn't suggested a plan b yet he wants to give it another four weeks and will review then. I have a feeling I will be in the same situation as you, I've had really heavy discharge (one of the reason they gave me cautery and some abdominal pains)still since going back to basics.

I think if in a few weeks I'm still in this scenario I will ask for a new consultant as I am being treated privately via work insurance thankfully. Gosh how can such a small procedure be so frustrating!

I was told in colposcopy clinic that I had a Very thin cervix and prone to trauma from excersize, gym sex etc. So this could be why also.

Glad you got it sorted :).
