Rectum type pain?

Hi ladies, im 24 years old and I’m currently awaiting my 5th endo related laparoscopy. I’ve recently (in the last 4 months or so) started getting some new pain type symptoms and wondered if it was something anyone else had experienced as I’m sure it is endo connected but unsure. It’s always on my left hand side around the ovary area it’s like a sharp cramp that goes all the way into my rectum area to the point I can feel it in my bum. It almost feels like there’s a bowel movement stuck but the pain isn’t made any better by going to the toilet and eventually goes on it’s own although it always seems to appear on a monthly basis for a few days and it’s unbearable when it does. I’m aware endo on the bowel can happen and I have had a few bowel symptoms in the past - colonoscopies have shown mild inflammation but nothing too untoward. I just wondered if this kind of pain was something anyone else got with their endo?

Thanks in advance xx

I saw your post and wanted to reply as you're not alone. I used to get stabbing up my rectum all the time. Like a knife up there and sometimes too painful to sit. They found Endo on my bowels but not sure if this was related to the pains. My mum had Endo too and she got this symptom x

Thanks so much for replying. A knife type pain is quite a good description, I’ve struggled to put my finger on it. I hope you are managing your symptoms better now xxx

Hey Ginz7, I also get this kind of pain. Actually more so than general cramps because it seems to happen pretty randomly at any time and isn’t solely period related as many of my other symptoms are, though it’s much more common then.

I had a lap ten days ago and they confirmed adeno but no endo was found (they did find a bunch of other stuff to sort out though!). They thought this specific pain might be a dietary thing, though I’ve also had an endoscopy and it was also clear.

I’ve been advised to do FODMAP to see if it improves the symptoms and if there’s any particular triggers. Appreciate this isn’t that helpful but just so you know you’re not alone.

I would definitely mention it to the surgeon and they will check specifically, as no one should have to live with all that pain. Best of luck with your next op x

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m glad you’ve got some answers and I hope they are finding ways of managing it better for you.

Thanks for the suggestion as wel I’m going to keep my eye on my diet and see if there’s any specific triggers. I’m lucky enough to have such a good surgeon to not feel like I’m going a bit insane!!!

Best of luck and I hope things improve for you soon xx

Yes that’s exactly what I’m going to do when I’m 100% back to normal from the op. Thought about starting last week but it seems very hard to get your head around!!

That’s great, well I hope your surgeon can get you some answers in your next op and you have a speedy recovery xx

I too have started getting back passage pain, hard to explain, feels around coxic area. I’ve fibroids and cysts and I suspect endo as well but waiting to have camera and biopsies done, I’m sure my back passage pain is linked, it’s all a bit scary isn’t it?

It does feel scary!! But yes about the coxic area is the same for me. It takes my breath away and it feels like pressing around my ovary will help but it comes and goes as it pleases!!

I hope you get sorted soon x

Well! Went to docs on thurs and according to her I’ve a bad case of Hemorrhoids, suppositories and cream given and tbh it’s been a lot better as weekend has gone one - should always get checked and not assume I suppose! Thanks for your reply, I’m in absolutely again in pelvis today but back passage better is a huge relief x
