Post-op advice please!

I am preparing for a laparoscopic total hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo oopherectomy and excision as I have Stage 4 Endo. My operation is scheduled for August 12th and have been told that the bloating from the gases used during operation can be painful so I’ve been researching medicines. I have come across Gas-X quite a bit but we don’t have that here as I’ve been ringing pharmacies and even Holland and Barrett don’t do it.

Any recommendations?

The nearest equivalent I’ve found is:

mifarma.co.uk/sandoz-bienes...

Anybody used these sachets before?

Am also researching stool softeners as this area can be quite delicate after operation also.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks. 🙂

was diagnosed aged 22 I am now 45.

I have had 15 laparoscopic surgeries a bowel operation and a hysterectomy.

I’m currently in hospital again for compacted stool due to adhesions on my colon.

This means being on a drip and having laxatives as well as eating a low residue diet almost the same treatment as if one had Crohn’s disease.

So although a diagnosis may help the condition is about life long management and getting used to always having some form of pain.

Hope you get some answers soon xxx

Did they prepare for your ‘surgical menopause’? HRT or other?

Did you or anyone else wear abdominal binders after the surgery?

Did they get you up out of bed that same day after surgery?

How long were you in hospital for?

Sorry for all the questions....😆

I went to a local chemist and brought windeeze, I didn't feel much pain from the gas but i took a few just to be on the safe side. They say moving around after your op as much as you can helps to get rid of the gas too. x

I found peppermint tea helped and (if you can) walk around as much as you can but dont strain yourself.

I pottered round my house every couple of hours especially during the night as it was hard to sleep, but I do think keeping a bit mobile really helps.

Sorry I cant say about any of the medicines as I didn't take them. Hope it goes well!
