As I've wrote on another post- i am about to have my seond lap + some other procedures next week. My new endo specialist says the best time for this would be immediately after period. That is why this date was choosen. My problem is that I am stressing so bloody much for the past 4 days, can't sleep, have nightmares, scared to death because I almost died during my first surgery due to a surgeon's mistake, that my period refuses to come.....I have the pain and the spasms and everything - and nothing. It is soooo irritating! I am praying for blood at the moment. And nothing....If it doesn't come the surgery will be postponed and I will be even worse stress level speaking, because I am so so so scared!!!

I dont have any good ideas however I just wanted to say what an awful catch 22 situation you are in.
If it does get postponed as your period refuses to come it might be worth discussing that with your gynae as by the sounds of the horrendous previous experience you are always going to be stressed before your operations and therefore your period will be out of sync. I would hate to think of it being postponed and then the same happening again.

The shitty part is that even with the endo it never skips, so I know it will come, just a question of when....
I’m sorry you have to go through all this. I had my 5th surgery last week on Thursday and am recovering at home after a 2 day stay in hospital. I had organs removed through laparoscopic surgery due to the endometriosis (grade 4). Last year I had laproscopy for excision among with a hysteroscopy.
I have always found pre-surgery it’s important to keep anxiety at bay so I found walking around nature and running when I’m not in pain to be very therapeutic. Destressing also for me has been introducing specific routines into my lifestyle. It’s helped me to control my anxiety. I’ve also found eliminating certain foods from my diet has been very helpful to stabilise my mood. I’ve had many different painkillers and even zoladex/prostap to switch off my ovaries. During which time I had to control a lot of of deliberately induced menopausal symptoms and again, what helped me was a strict plant based diet and exercise. Getting in touch with nature also helped especially before my surgeries. I can relate to the sleepless anxious nights before a surgery that’s how I felt in my first few surgeries. What ever you enjoy doing, I would suggesting taking up those tasks to try and keep your kindest stable. This same mindset will help you recover too. A lot of managing endometriosis and associated symptoms can be down to how we see ourselves in our mind and the pain we feel. I hope you are able to start doing a few things you enjoy to re-focus your mind and once you’ve had the surgery the same will aid in getting your strength back again. I hope all goes well for you on the day and you are able to come out of the procedures with a view to make things better for you.

My period actually came so going for surgery next week.
I am already on a very strict diet due to the fact I have coeliac disease, milk allergy, corn allergy and some fruits and veggies intolerances. I do not eat red meat as well. Basically I eat salmon, turkey, broccoli, courgets, apples, cucumbers, spinach. Those are the only foods I have absolutely no problems with, I cook everything from scratch.
My biggest concerns would be the anesthesia ( I am afraid I am going to wake up during surgery, but being paralyzed and not able to communicate to let them know) and a broken artery. My first surgeon managed to cut one of my arteries in my tummy and then tried to stop the bleeding for quite sometime, I was in surgery for three hours because of this, at the end I've lost a lot of blood. I do not wish this to my biggest enemy, recovery was a nightmare. The first day after waking up from the anesthesia was the worst of my life. Even though I trust my new doc, I am still very scared because of that first surgery.....
Oh thats very good news, because your post surgery bleeding will be a lot less if you have periods right now.
In terms of diet, I don’t have coeliacs but I’m on a plant based diet and completely gluten/diary/wheat free. It’s made a huge difference with running/walking etc. I do.
Unfortunately the anaesthesia part simply sucks for a better term. I have had really horrible reactions to it including a small rash around my throat after surgery a few years ago. But following last week’s surgery, it was better although I had a sore throat for may be a day. It will make you feel groggy and tired. Believe me when I say my first surgery was 4 hrs and I lost 3 pints of blood bleeding a transfusion ultimately.
I know this may sound daunting but actually finding the right surgeon makes a huge difference believe me. I went through 4 Gynaecologists before my current one who’s been brilliant. He’s very comprehensive with every aspect and because I also have other complications like adenomyosis and only a single kidney by birth as well as a double uterus (he removed 1 and there’s one remaining), I’ve been feeling better in terms of the bleeding episodes. He was also the person who confirmed I have pain syndrome when I had previously mentioned it to other clinicians who didn’t really agree. So, I hope your new clinical team is able to help you better. Also, something to keep in mind, is that there’s currently a lack of a gold standard for certain surgical aspects for endometriosis so surgeons can sometimes use different methods etc. A good surgeon can really be the best way to tackle endometriosis long term as I’ve found that was the case having been to many. Enjoy the next few days just focusing on yourself and what you like to do. Be as active as possible and if you workout at the gym or run or swim, do as many sessions as you like. It will really help your anxiety levels.
