5months of pain post laparoscopy

Hi, has anyone continued to have horrific pains after a laparoscopy? To cut a long story short, I'm into cycle 5 and the pain is still so very severe. There has been no improvement what so ever. It's affecting my life so badly and I am currently waiting for a referral to another hospital.

I really do not know what to do anymore.

Thanks

Hey,

Im sorry that you are still in pain. Did you have excision or ablation?

After excision surgery it can sometimes take a long time for the pain to settle ive read sometimes in excess of 6 months. This is because of all the healing needed.

Did you have a follow up or not?

Hi Livvi, thank you for your message. I had ablation. The surgeon left after the procedure and there was no follow up. I've since been referred to Queen Charlottes hospital. I just can't take it anymore. I had high hopes after the laparoscopy but no better 😔 X

Ohhh man that sucks. As I found with ablation it settled quite quickly. It could still be healing though if they did alot inside.

Im glad you have a referral sorted. Do you know how long the wait is for you to be seen???

I know its hard but try not to lose hope.

Thank you x x

I will hopefully find out the date of appointment tomorrow. It's so so hard. I was woken out of my sleep again this morning at 3:15am with excruitating pain. It's such a struggle x

Fingers crossed for you that its not too long of a wait. 🤞

Aww no I know how you feel Ive spent over a year in daily excruciating pain. I had a hysterectomy and removal of ovaries and tubes and currently weaning off my morphine to see if its worked.

Aww wow. Bless you. I'm hoping to avoid hysterectomy as I want to at least try to fall. Ugh. Hope it works for you and thank you for messaging me x x

Yeahh unfortunately endo has robbed my chances of having children and im only 29. However, for me it was either the hysterectomy or write my life off to being basically bed bound daily and in agony so it had to happen.

I do hope you get the chance to have a child and hope that your pain eases.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. It's awful.

I totally understand with regards to writing your life off as I feel I cannot cope during the pain. I'm 32 and every day I worry. :( x x

You too x x

I feel for you. I was in severe pain for at least nine months. But my friend who went through a similar op was dancing at a wedding after three weeks. It varies so much, but you are not alone. Life is much better now, although there are days of some pain around my period and ovulation.

Hey L,

Oh really? Did the pain just stop after 9 months? I don't think I could do any more. It really is testing me. X

Once the surgery had really healed and my body settled in to the hormone therapy (which was about 8-9 months after surgery) I discovered that in-between period or ovulation times my life was VASTLY improved. But I came to the conclusion that I am just always going to have painful periods and ovulations. So the good days became normal and the period days were like any other normal person with reasonably painful periods. I almost lost hope so many times as for months and months I was in utmost agony but it DOES GET BETTER. You may never be normal like others (I now know I will never be), but life can get it’s colour back to a degree.

Thanks for your response. I'm 5months post ablation and there has been no improvement what so ever. Unfortunately I can't take anything else pill wise for hormones. I have a break of three weeks until the pain, cycle and everything else that comes with it kicks in. Good luck to you and hope it gets better x

After an ablation you can’t have children as it thins the lining of your womb this is why they only do it if they have asked if you want children x this scares me the fact that they are telling people different things

Hi Dixxx, really? That's the first I've heard of it. They know for sure that I'll be trying? And during the procedure my fallopian tubes and overaies were checked. I guess it depends where the endometriotum is located? X
