Came off the coil to try to conceive, and PMS symptoms without contraception are knocking me for six...any tips?

Came off the coil to try to conceive, now on my third period, and each month I am completely drained, having to leave work early, can't keep my eyes open, having extreme heavy bleeding and bleeding through my clothes (on tranexamic acid to help with this ), my mood is also terrible (of course!) 🙄.

Any tips to coping better ?! I'm currently: taking amitriptyline at night for pain, iron, folic acid multi vit, cucurmin for inflammation and on a version of the endo diet.

Really feel like the minera coil kept me hormonally level and now all out of whack, but obviously am trying to hopefully conceive so can't go back.

Thanks!!

HI, have you had your endo excised? I noticed you had your lap to diagnose endo. Did your specialist suggest removal of endo as an option after lap? I'm only asking because general gynae will suggest trying to conceive or a hysterectomy rather than endo removal as they're not specialist so aren't aware that actually endo removal should be first if the woman want's to conceive. Check out the National Institute for Health Care and Excellence website, search google for "NICE Endometriosis", under the tab Guidance there's a people heads icon saying "NICE Interactive Flowchart - Endometriosis" this gives the suggested route for treatments depending on the woman's wishes and severity of endo.

I know it may not be something you'd want to consider while trying to conceive but if your symptoms are horrible currently you may be better having your endo removed first as that will help your cycles settle as well as your symptoms, plus your body will be in the healthiest state to conceive.

Removal of endo also means that generally speaking you'll be healthier for pregnancy and after childbirth; some women find their endo is worse during pregnancy and fine after, some find it's fine during and horrible after. It's all down to hormones and different for each.

Personally I feel if you're struggling now, I would ask how would you be after childbirth - just because you won't have cycles it doesn't mean you won't have hormone ups and downs as you could still ovulate. So you could need endo removal possibly pretty soon after if it progresses quickly - there's no knowing.

If you've had endo removed, and I didn't spot you mentioning it I apologise!!

I'm also not sure if you should be on painkillers while trying to conceive? I get that it helps, and if docs say it's fine, then I guess it's okay....

I think the rest of your added stuff looks all okay :)

Having said all that some women manage so I didn't want to scare you, just being honest xx

Hiya :)

Yes I had my endo removed as well as a chocolate cysts removed during the lap, so they wouldn't operate again within the same year. Also had a scan a few months ago and none of th cysts have come back. So it definitely is the right time to conceive..

To be honest it's the PMS symptoms and the hormone imbalance (the minera coil balances me as I have too much estrogen) I'm finding difficult, not the endo (I'm not in that much pain) . I'd definitely have the minera coil put in as soon as possible after a birth (if we're lucky enough to conceive ).

I've been told it's fine to take the amitriptyline by my GP, until a positive pregnancy test (as it would only be two weeks and the embryo wouldn't have implanted yet)

ah okay, apologies for not knowing that stuff :) !!

Good luck xx

We're on the just wait and see path, whatever happens will happen, so just chilling and trying not to stress over it :) We don't want to plan if that makes sense as it feels like we plan for things all our life (uni, jobs, car, wedding, house....) so sometimes nature should just be allowed to have it's say when it can especially with this kind of stuff - a personal couple feeling!
