HELP.. Advice needed

So I have finally got my date for surgery and have recently been to my ERA session.

I am having a laparotomy as I have a 10cm cyst on one ovary and both a 6 and 15cm cyst on my other ovary. Endo is completely blocking my tubes and I have been told to expect them to be removed. I also have endo in my bladder and somewhere that begins with the letter u but I can't remember what it's called 🤦‍♀️. This means I will have at least 2 surgeons working on me in my operation.

I have been told my estimated recovery time will be about 2-4 weeks which I am totally confused about as I thought it would take much longer.

Has any one got any advice?

Thanks

I had similar surgery earlier in the year. I was only in hospital 2 nights then I was officially off work for 3-5 weeks but in the last few weeks I was able to work from home. If they are able to do keyhole surgery, this is the best for recovery time.

Did you have keyhole? My gynae has already said I can't have it as the cysts they are removing are too big and because of how much endo is in my tubes

Yes I did have keyhole but my main pain was internal, the actual scars in the skin weren't a problem. Depending on your job, I'd say expect a 4-6 weeks recovery. I felt worse on the painkillers than with the pain and once I got off them I was mentally able to do a lot more. It's important to move around and walk etc during the recovery time which makes it pass by quicker, at least you are not bed-ridden.

That sounds about right, I have previously had surgery for extensive Endo involving the bowel. Was back at work after 4 weeks but probably depends on your lifestyle/work life. Pain was manageable. (And felt like a new woman afterwards😊....good luck💕

Everyone is different, just be prepared to heal at ur own pace. I had laparoscopic surgery for remove one tube but ended up having both removed and they found extension endometriosis. I thought I’d be off 2 weeks that’s all the surgeon signed me off for but actually had to have 7 weeks as I just didn’t feel ready to go back and was still experiencing discomfort. I still don’t feel 100% and it will be 10 weeks tomorrow since my surgery.

Thank you everyone for your replies. The way that I see it is that everyone's story differs so much and even if people have similar problems it still varies a lot. So it is just a matter of seeing how I feel I guess. But it always good to hear other ladies stories
