Endo and bowel pain

Hi everyone. I have just signed up on here hoping to get some answers and moral support and to help others too!

I was diagnosed with Endo in Dec. I’ve always been on the pill due to having heavy periods as a teenager. Whenever I came off the pill I struggled with bloating, pain and irregular periods. I struggled to conceive my daughter and saw a specialist but Endo was never mentioned.

I have also been diagnosed with ibs, always suffered with bowel pain and problems.

I was finally diagnosed with Endo in December and it was on the bowel. My uterus was fused to my abdomen. I had surgery to sort that out but I am now still suffering with bowel pain and bloating. I have the merena coil, they fitted that in March. Now been referred to gastro consultant. MRI is clear so now have to have colonoscopy.

I’m feeling really low at the moment. I really hoped that all the bowel problems would be resolved after the Endo was taken off the bowel but it’s worse than ever! I just can’t see any end to it at the moment. Has anyone else had same problems and been able to resolve it?

Thanks

Hello, I can’t offer much advice as I am pretty much in the same boat. I was told I had Ibs about 7 years ago, always had bowel issues bloating, diarrhoea followed by constipation etc. I had my lap last week and bowel was attached to uterus etc. It was successfully removed but they also found I have diverticulosis (pockets developed on bowel wall) which they think could also be contributing to pain. It’s good that you are being referred to at least rule anything bowel related out. I know it’s difficult but try and focus on the fact they are investigating. You are not the only one, and this forum is amazing at picking you up when you need it 😊 have you tried any diet changes? I have (only just) started to cut gluten and dairy out and see if that helps. Xx

Thanks Katyt234. I have cut out dairy and gluten and it has helped a bit but not much to be honest. I am hoping that maybe the Merena will help but 3 months in I haven’t noticed any improvement. If they don’t find anything with the colonoscopy then I’m at a loss as they don’t think they can do anything more. X

How long have you cut dairy & gluten out for? I have the Mirena, unfortunately didn’t stop my periods but the pill on top has. I’m also taking turmeric supplements, I do really think they have helped a lot. Keep your chin up xx

I’ve cut them out since Feb as I read it would help stop the Endo from growing. I’ve just ordered some turmeric capsules, how long did it take for you to feel some benefit? The coil does seem to have stopped my periods so that’s something to be thankful for! I am really hoping it’s just early days and things will settle. I was up half the night in pain again so a bit bleary eyed this morning 😂. Thanks xx
