Uterine natural killer cells

Hi ladies, so I was wondering if any of you have had a biopsy done for uterine natural killer cells? I have endo and I've just had my 2nd biopsy, first result came back high and my 2nd came back very high. Waiting to see what my plan is now. Just wondering if it was common to have endo and high natural killer cells and if they are linked? Also how do you get pregnant naturally if you have high killer cells?

I have recently experienced lower back pain and pain in my tail bone like I have fallen over but I haven't. I recently saw consultant but he just said no signs of why on MRI only endo now on the bowel.

Hi, I’ve just come across your note and I wanted to know abit more if I may. I have suffered with pain in my tail bone for almost a year. I went to the doctor and they said it wasn’t really anything they can do. I have also had two failed rounds of IVF and notice you mentioned endo on bowel and it’s got me wondering if I could possibly have that and that’s why it isn’t working. Do you know if tail bone pain is a common sign for endo? Sorry for the questions only I’ve never even thought of this xx

Hi sarah, I had severe endo on my bowel and also other areas, took my surgeon 2 and a half hours to get rid of it all for me, I must say I cant recall having pain in my tail bone, just severe pain when I was on my period! I did have accupunture and that helped alot with the pain but doesnt get rid of it! I had my 2nd laparoscopy in may and my ivf consultant advised me to do another round straight after my op, I have been on steroid aswell for this round because of my high natural killer cells aswell and I'm very happy to say I am 12 weeks pregnant with twins 😁🙊🙈 so I would deffo keep on to your GP for a laparoscopy before you do another round of ivf. I do believe all of this helped me conceive! I've learnt so much over the years and being persistent and going with your gut and listening to your body deffo helped me get to where I want to be 😊 I know how hard this journey is so stay strong and positive and you will get there, I know its easier said than done but you know your body best!

Thank you for your update. Im definitely going to get tested for it. Even if it rules it out. I don’t know if I can get tested for this on NHS as I’m private with IVF but I guess I’ll check with my doctor tomorrow.

So nice to hear your story! How many transfers did you have if you don’t mind me asking? Xx

You can have it done on the NHS I think but it's very difficult to get transferred! So I just went private at coventry hospital with professor Brossens. It cost £550 but worth it if it comes back high like mine did! Thankyou so much, we had 3 transfers in total and I got pregnant on our 3rd frozen transfer and I had 2 5day blastocysts transferred xx

Hi I hope I haven't worried you. Sorry IVF not been successful yet. Hope you get good news soon.

My GP felt I had pulled muscles and I no longer have the pain in my tail bone. I have pain in my rectum still which is common I read with endo and was the symptom that led to MRI showing bowel involvement. I also have lower back pain and the pain radiates down my leg. I also have right sides ovary pain.

I have endo but I am struggling to conceive. I’ve had a failed IVF attempt. I wonder if I have high NK cell. What treatment have you had? have you had steroids? X

Hi kitscat! Have you had a laparoscopy to remove your endo? I've had 2 now and my 2nd one was in may and it took my surgeon 2 and a half hours to get rid of it all! It was really bad! I had 2 failed attempts at ivf and then I went to have my NK cells tested and both the tests came back high so on my 3rd round of ivf my consultant said the best thing to do is have your laparoscopy, he put me on steroids along with all the other meds, I had 2 embryos put back in and now I'm 12 weeks pregnant with twins!! So dont lose hope it does happen honestly, you just have to be persistent and listen to your body and keep on to your GP, it's been just over 2 years since I was first diagnosed with endo so its took time to get here! I'm coming off the steroids now and it's not pleasant coming off them 😫 but I couldnt say if it was the operation I had to get rid of the endo or if it was the steroids that helped me get pregnant because we tried everything this time! Dont give up hope x

Thank you so much for your reply. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy!!! It fills me with hope 🤩

I had an ectopic in June 2018 and that’s when they discovered endo. I then had a failed cycle of IVF in Feb 2019 with a high quality embryo. I had a laparoscopy in July. I’m now trying naturally for 6 months before trying IVF again.

Where did you go to have your NK cells tested? What dose of steroids were you and for how long? Did you get any side effects?

Xx

Thankyou so so much I really appreciate that, weve been trying for 5 years so it's been a very tough emotional rollercoaster as you know! You have to remain positive, I foind that really difficult though but now it's happened to me it can happen!! I had my NK cells tested privately at coventry hospital. I just contacted them and they booked me in! It cost £550 though but I'm glad I had it done as mine came back very high! I have been on 20mg steroids a day, I'm slowly coming off them now, they only side effect I've had is I am so so hungry all the time and obv it's got much worse when I got pregnant and it's not good when your feeling sick with pregnancy and that hungry it makes you even worse lol they only thing I can do to stop it is eat little and often so I'm glad to be coming off them! I'm feeling moody at the moment but I just think that's my hormones all over the place too, I'm coming off the estrogen and progesterone now aswell so it's all going on!

Dont give up hope! And try not to stress, I know you had an ectopic pregnancy but atleast you know you can get pregnant, I didnt get pregnant at all until now so keep positive it will happen 😊😊😊xx

Thank you so much. I think I’m worried I can’t implant. My last period was heavy and late so I’m worried it was a very early miscarriage. Do you have the details of that hospital? Could you private message me?

Positive stories always help me so much!

It sounds like you have a lot to contend with at the moment but so worth it! You’ve done well to stay positive! I hope you are doing some nice things do and have plenty of people to pamper you 😁 xx
