So frustrated!!

Why r doctors so difficult!! So my sick note ran out on Sunday 19th the doctor I saw last told me to ring up Monday and ask the receptionist to send him a message on the computer and he would do it right away and it would be at the front desk to pick up.

So of course Monday morning I rang up asked them to send a message to that doctor and also just to let him no my operation date had changed from the 11th June to the 25th June just so he was aware. Monday afternoon I go to pick it up, nope they sent it to a different doctor who is not in so it will be done Tuesday ok a bit annoying but ok.

Tuesday go to the doctors to pick it up, nope it’s still waiting for the doctor to do oh ok I will come back later, so I waste like 2 hours of my day thinking that if I wait till after they have closed then reopened after lunch it should be done by then. Go back in after lunch, oh sorry your doctor is not actually in, it should be done tomorrow. Now I’m like really?! I rang up Monday morning it’s now Tuesday afternoon.

So I ring up this morning about 11, no it’s still waiting to be done it should be done this afternoon. Ok fine so i rang about two o’clock this afternoon, finally it’s done yay but can I just check it’s back dated to the 19th yeah it’s from the 19th may till 25th June!!! Sorry what!? So they have give me a sick note that runs out the day of my operation!!!

Sorry for the massive rant, I just don’t understand why they would end my sick note the day I’m having an operation!!

That is frustrating but I wouldn’t worry, the hospital will give you a new sick note when they discharge you and that’s probably what your GP was counting on. This is probably better for you anyway as your employer will be able to see from the sick note that you have been in hospital and had surgery. The GP will then be able to issue a new one when that one expires. Hope this is helpful :)

The hospital should provide one. They came and saw me in recovery and gave me one, signing me off for 2 weeks. You can always ask them when they are prepping you for surgery too.

Good luck with your op x

The others are right in that the hospital can give you one, but don’t count on them doing it without you asking! They signed me off work verbally to me but i only remembered to ask to get the actual physical sick note when i got readmitted a week later, so when they say you are getting discharged just prompt them that you need a sick note 😊

The hospital will give you a sick note upon request before discharging you :) They have asked me both times if I need a sick note for work or school. I wouldn't worry! I understand the frustration though. Dealing with receptionists at doctors offices can be very irritating.
