Nervous about lap on Thursday

Hi there,

I’m a long time reader and first time poster, but I have my lap on Thursday and I’m so frightened I hoped to get some opinions from you lovely ladies.

I was disanosed with endo at the age of 18 after having my appendix out and finding it was actually a strangulated bowel and endo on my pouch of Douglas . I went on Gnrh analogues for 6 months and then another lap to confirm all the endo had gone. In the 11 years since I’ve had 2 more operations for ovarian cysts.

Started getting pains in my groin/top of right thigh which feel like burning and terrible lower back pain along with general pelvic pain about 6 months ago. This then also came with irregular bleeding and recurrent thrush. The pains were throughout the month and not necessarily at ovulation/period although when I do have my period my bowels are awful. I have also recently started getting a shooting pain up my back passage.

Went to the nhs gp who said it was thrush and sent me on my way. Next time I went back she told me to go to the sexual health clinic suspecting an infection!! So off I went, and saw a lovely doctor who said it didn’t sound like an infection at all. I told her about my endo history and she gave me an internal examination and told me should could feel a ‘mass’ and that I should see a gynae.

Luckily I have private healthcare so I went to see a fantastic gynae who sent me for an MRI to look for deep infiltrating endo in my bowel. MRI didn’t show this but now I am booked in for a lap on Thursday and I am petrified that when they open me up they will find that it isn’t endo but the C word. I’ve googled my symptoms and have convinced myself that it can’t be endo as my periods whilst very painful aren’t as heavy as they used to be.

Can anyone provide me with any advice? My anxiety is sky high.

X

Wow it sounds like you’ve been having quite a stressful time; I’m not surprised you’re feeling anxious! Lots of your symptoms are similar to mine, and I have endo on the bowel (as well as previously on other areas) plus you’ve had an endo diagnosis before.

Try and stay away from google if you can (easier said than done I know) and I hope you get some clarification when you wake up after the op.

Sending love to you xx

I completely understand where you're coming from, I thought the same as Im on the depo injection and I don't even have periods(just constant pain), I was convinced it was the C word but it was not. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, keep calm x
