Last week I decided to stop taking Zoladex after 4 months of injections due to the side effects were getting too much for me including the hot flushes, incontinence and depression. I managed to see my gynae last Friday and it was a total waste of time again. He didn't know Zoladex causes incontinence in some women and had to GOOGLE it and appeared surprised that it came straight up on the side effects. Anyways, he prescribed me Letrozole which I can't take as it is banned in golf so I was thinking of going on the Depo-Provera injection.
Anyways, it has been roughly a week since I stopped Zoladex so it should nearly be out of my system but the dull, heavy ache feeling has come back in my pelvis and is made worse by long distance walking. It has been bothering me throughout the Zoladex treatment but it has come back worse now and the sharp pains in my ovaries. I am dreading my period coming back as my golf season has just started and I don't want to repeat last year where I could hardly play.
My gynae is not helpful in any way and still doubts me as he only found a small amount of endometriosis but I am still having trouble 10 months after surgery which makes me would if he may have missed some or didn't remove it all. He gives me treatments I can't take and then says "it will not help with the pain and you'll still get periods but you should still try it".
Did anyone else get pain straight after stopping Zoladex and what could it mean?
Thank you xxx

So so sorry to hear you're having such a bad time with it, especially since your lap. Unacceptable for your gynae not to know what side effects are for a commonly prescribed drug for endo, or for prescribing something you can't take. I would definitely ask to see someone else. You're perfectly entitled to say something and request a second opinion from an expert if you feel you're not being treated in the right way. Could you go back to your GP and tell them your concerns, see if you can be referred to a different hospital/consultant?
Literally, I was gobsmacked when he googled it and I don’t know if I can see someone else unless my current gynae discharges me from his care.
I wish they would refer me to one of the endo specialist centres in my area as one is on my uni campus. I feel like I’m overthinking the pain as he said he removed the endo but the pain is still there. However there was a 6 month delay in starting treatment after my lap as the appointment kept getting cancelled xx
It's your body, if you feel something isn't right, and you want a second opinion, you're well within your rights to get one. If he's not behaving or treating you in a way you're comfortable with, then you can ask for another consultant, or ask you GP for a referral to an endo centre, especially if there's one that close to you.
Whether he's an expert in endo or not, he's still a gynae specialist and I'd have thought he should know what zoladex does, and what it's side effects are without having to Google them!
I'm not sure of the rules around it, but I don't think you have to be discharged from his care to get a second opinion or be referred by your GP to a different hospital.
