So I’m going in for a laparoscopy and (possibly) cauterisation in my cervix in a couple of weeks and if my tracking is right I should be coming on my period at the same time.
Does anyone know if this is a problem??
I’ve waited so long for my surgery I don’t want it to be postponed

When I had my lap I was told I could not be on my period on the day and if I thought I was going to be to call them up in advance, lucky for me I am on the pill so just had my period a week early (i do 9 weeks on the pill so just done 8 instead) but maybe just give the ward a call and see what they advise
Hey, when I called my specialist secretary about being on my period for my lap (and hysteroscopy) she said it's fine, actually sometimes it's better as the endo is said to be more visible.
As for the cervix cauterisation; I had something similar done, chemical cauterisation for cervical ectropion. That one they need visibility of the cervix so cannot have a period during that time. However it can be done under local anaesthetic - that's how I had mine.
Speak to your specialists secretary and see what they say. They may say they'll note you down for both but will see on the day.
Hiya! I was due on my period for my Lap and notified my GP & Consultant about this. They gave me some medication (Norithisterone I believe it’s called!) and it stopped my period for my surgery 🙂
Ask at your pre-op too - they should be able to tell you what you need to do!
