Don't ever give up!

Hi,

On Friday I finally realised that I have adenomyosis as well as endometriosis. This diagnosis has given me a name to call my daily pelvic pain for the past 11 years. It has been an awful journey to get here after 7 laparoscopies and many treatments for the pain. I was often told that there is no reason for my pain and that it is of a mental nature. Please don't ever let anyone convince you that this is the case! We women know our bodies and know when something in our pelvis does not seem right!

I suffered and suffer from heavy periods with large clots, fatigue, daily pelvic pain, pain down my thighs and back and also anxiety. Endometriosis was removed twice as well as 5 ovarian cysts.

It is a relief isisnt it.’I was diagnosed with very mild endo and suspected adeno in August 2017. I have had issues since my periods started in my teens and they had just got worse the older I got.

I had an MRI that showed adeno and my uterus showed signs when I had my one and only lap.

I had an amazing surgeon. Thankfully he agreed to a hysterectomy as i have two children and over the Yeats I have gone from pill to pill, tried the mirena coil, and had decapeptyl. I was offered more injections but said I just wanted it all over with.

I had

My surgery aug 2018 and I feel amazing. The constant pressure in my pelvis, the bloating and back pain are gone. I feel like a new woman and am finally enjoying life again.

I kept my ovaries and still get some pain but I can totally live with that.

I wish you all the best on your journey. What treatment have you been offered if any?

Thanks for telling me your story. To have a name as to what it wrong is massive, so many times they told me that they couldnt find what was wrong. I have tried the Mirena coil and menopause injections in the past but that was a long time ago so I might try one of them to treat it. I dont have children, still hoping so here's hoping this is a new chapter xx

I have endo and adenomyosis, it was a throw away diagnosis/ comment but it explained the feeling that my uterus was trying to escape my body and the heavy dragging sensation !! I totally agree we are cultured to put up and shut up and we all deserve better. I agree listen to your own body you are the expert on your own body xx
