Hi guys, AV had chronic constapation since last may, I have got FSH muscular dystrophy and arthritis mutalins. My bowl muscles don't contract anymore so been using suppositories for the last 2yrs until it got 2 the point it built up that bad it was up 2 my chest and right up the top of my back, a sat up 1 morning n it came out my mouth and thought a better see a doctor, anyways a had hospital wash outs and 2 small enemas and 26 big enemas and laxidos n bisicodle at night, a eventually gave in and went 2 hospital but got told my x-rays were full but they couldn't see anything wrong so a walked out cause they were gonny give me another wash out n 8 laxidos a day, a told them AV been doing it for 7 months now, the pain in my left side was like a severe stitch with severe pains shooting through it, in the past 19days AV had 4 picolax sachets n 8 laxidos a day in only 500ml of water and still just dihhorea, ma left upper side/stomach feels like a big lump but the Dr said it was gas and believe me AV blew enough gas out lol. Has anyone else ever had this, I just get 2 a certain bit maybe 2 days the other day without them n it started building up in ma stomach n back n when a breath in and out it was like a pluricy pain in the left lung, anyone got any ideas on anything else a can try????

Hey there,

I just wanted to say I am sorry you are going through this. I don't have great advice or much else to try. I had constipation/bloating/IBS problems due to endo, but this might not be what is happening here.

Symptoms never got as bad as they obviously have done for you. Air can be trapped and cause the pains, but I am just not qualified to say either way. Can you try a different GP or ask for a referral? It really sounds like you need proper medical support.

Fingers crossed!

have you been diagnosed or suspected endometriosis?

This could be linked to it or it could be a gastrointestinal issue. In that case you could join the " IBS Network" on here for more specific help and support.

It seems like you need to go to your GP to be referred to a specialist to have a look in more detail.

They said the CT scan was ok so not got a clue n seen a gyny but also examined me n said am pleased 2 tell us it's not a big cyst. Ma whole family is sick of hearing it all cause it's all a go on abt is health problems but a said it's ok for use but AV lived with all this for 37yrs so I Al go on abt it if a want lol

Aww, poor you :(

Scans won't always show endo as it looks almost like normal tissue; a laparoscopy is the only way to see endo, and the only formal diagnosis, because they have to actually look, to see where it is, how much and what it's sticking together.

I suggest you get in touch with your local womens health, pelvic pain, endometriosis center (google), have a look at the BSGE website. Give them a call and say you're not sure if it's endo but how do you go about checking as you need a definite diagnosis. See if you can speak to an endo specialist whom is also in touch with a colorectal specialist; they may be able to suggest what they can look at all in one go - stuff you couldn't have done awake.

If your family has health problems; does anyone have endo, or PCOS, or cysts? The symptoms may not be the same as yours but conditions tend to be more common if family members have it.

Just because you've lived with your problems for 37 years doesn't mean it's okay; your body is screaming out that somethings not right so you need to listen to it. Medication does help treat problems but sometimes finding and treating the cause is better as it's more specific and you know what's actually going on.

Still get onto the IBS Network on here incase it's just IBS.
