Is this normal?

I took my first Zoladex shot yesterday and today the cramps are back and they’re quite painful. I also started bleeding again, when I only stopped bleeding three days ago after bleeding for 2 weeks (I was placed on tranexamic acid for that episode). Please is this normal? What other unpleasant effects should I expect?

I’m afraid it is fine, the drug throws your body into menopause so irregular bleeds are normal first few months. Took me 3 months to settle. Best wishes x

Hi I had my first injection 3 weeks ago bleeding heavily since. i have been referred back to the hospital for scans. The pain is worse than normal.

That sounds like a zoladex flare. I had my first injection. Then one week after bled so much I needed a blood transfusion and stayed in hospital for 6 days. I’m feeling ok now though. Going to have a hysterectomy in a few months but will continue with zoladex (dr said it will settle down). If you’re still unwell, speak to your consultant as there are other progesterone pills they can give to stop the bleeding. X

I’ve just had my last injection, my first was by far the worst. I had heavy bleeding and all seems very similar to what your experiencing, it is all normal and will settle down. It took a few weeks to adjust to the new way my body was working, but it worked for a while.. please do feel free to contact me if you would like any advice or even some support..
