Hey,

Woken up in agony with my endometriosis today!!!!

No GP appointments available, just waiting on a phone call to see if they will give me anything, currently got co-codamol. She wouldn’t prescribe the codeine for me again for some reason.

Wondering if I should go to my nearest walk in??

Thanks

If you call NHS 111, and say you can't get any GP appointments for today, they'll do the usual symptom stuff and can book an appt at your walk in center - it saves you sitting and waiting there hours.

GPs have had cutbacks on prescription painkillers; they need to assess to re-prescribe, it's to do with figures for overprescribing etc.

Stretching - I know sounds odd but for the future, yoga helps lots, just some basic moves to get the muscles thinking about something else.

Painkillers such as ibuprofen help but they work if you already have it in your system so if you know you're going to get pain you can pre-dose a few days before.

Codeine and paracetamol - that you're already taking should help take the edge off.

Another that sounds odd; try not to worry, panic, stress, these all make the pain worse or rather make us more aware of it.

Do you have a specialist doctor for you endo? If so talk to their secretary and see if you can see them for what to do in these cases. If you don't have one, talk to your GP about being referred to see about the pain side of things.

I'm looking into accupuncture to manage my pain; our pain is always there with endo it just varies in intensity, where it is and whether we notice it, so long term pain management by altering the way our body perceives it works well, it can just take a few months to have an effect. I already do aromatherapy and essential oils massage / baths which I find helps amazingly.

Hope the walk in center helps xx

You can take narpoxen (I take 500mg x2 a day) with co-dydramol so maybe check if you can with yours? I wouldn't waste your energy with walk in, they're usually not very clued up in endo from my experience. I've had needless rectal examinations and all sorts because they've not understood endo can cause such pain! x
