Hormonal acne

One of the joys of progesterone side effects! I seem to get a cluster it on my left side during my period (which is currently around two weeks a month).

This month it feels worse, it hurts deep in my skin so I’m worried it will develop into full blown cystic acne.

Any tips?

Hi,

Would you be interested in taking a natural route for your hormonal imbalance?

I came off birth control (was on it for about 4 years) about 5 years ago and had horrible horrible cystic acne - to the point where it would leave horrible scarring, but thank God it is healed now. But mostly due to my lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, prayer/meditation).

I have NOT tried this, but am thinking of it floliving.com

It's about balancing hormones naturally.

I'm in the midst of seeing a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and acupuncturist because I want natural treatment for my pain related to my menstruation.

Hope this helps!

I was hormone free for years as most progesterones gave me horrendous side effects but I am now 5 months into jaydess (smaller coil with a smaller dose) which I do want to persevere with.

I am always interested in a holistic approach and have tried acupuncture once which was nice and I am be referred for it again.

I did just buy a cream with peroxide (salycilic acid is supposed to be great but I seem to be allergic to everything it’s in due to my fragrance allergy)

Yes. For me the holistic route has been best. A lot of acne is internal i.e. hormonal. So I stopped using products on my skin bc that wasn't doing anything bc cystic acne can't be treated externally. For me once I let go in a sense but also stopped stressing over my acne and using tons of products thank God over time my acne healed. I'm sorry if this isn't helping but I felt it important to share my experience.

I have the same! I am on the merina coil which i am having removed next month as it is just not agreeing with me after 8 months i get acne break outs in clusters near my eye brows and around my lips also weirdly on my back and shoulders i never had it before so obviously its the coil. I feel like just giving up with hormoal treatment as it is even making me grow thick dark random hairs on my face and my moods are all over the place im dorry im not much help but i read your post and just wanted to let you know i can totaly sympathize with you i hope you get better soon 💕 x

If you went on a lower dose of the same pill, it may help. Also, I use cleansing astringent that contain salicylic acid.

I have an iud called jaydess that is a lower dose of progesterone.

What brand do you use? I’ve heard great things about salicylic but I’m allergic to fragrances and I can’t find anything that has salicylic and is fragrance free

I am not very sure if it is fragrance free but Clinique has a range called "Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion". There's something there for people who have sensitive skin, it may be fragrance free.

Clinique usually are a fragrance free hypoallergenic brand so that’s awesome! Thank you!
