Laparoscopy advice
Hi,
I've had 2 laparoscopies both 12 years apart, recovery much slower second time round I suppose because I was older. Worst of it is over 48 hours after surgery as there can be a lot of gas pain as it tries to exit the body. I found hot water bottles and strong painkillers helped me get through, plus moving around (although it hurts) makes the gas go quicker. I took much longer off work second time round, but was back to gym and light exercise after 5 weeks. Did lots of walking before then too. Be kind to yourself and your body, expect to be slower with everything for a good couple of months after surgery and rest as much as you can. Make sure you have someone with you for first 36 hours-48 hours after surgery to help out. Beware codeine painkillers if you can as the surgery disrupts bowel function and codeine can add to that. So use it sparingly if you have to. But best of luck and I'm sure it will all be ok 😁
