How will I ever know if it’s endo?

Hi everyone, I’m 45 and have had gynae and ibs/digestive issues for years.

Last year my 43 year old sister was told she may have ovarian cancer as one of her ovaries had a mass on it. Turned out to be endometriosis.

Over the last couple of years I’ve been back and forward to the gynaecologist, I keep getting uterine polyps and having them removed via hysteroscopy. During the scans it often picks up chocolate cysts in one of my ovaries.

I’ve never given endometriosis any thought but since my sisters diagnosis I’ve been wondering if I too may have it? I’ve mentioned it to my last gynaecologist and he said ‘yes, it could well be endometriosis’ and left it at that, no other comments/suggestions!!

I’ve had uterine polyps removed a couple of months ago and have now been discharged from the gynaecologist.

Not sure what to do next but I’m fed up with ongoing digestive issues, pelvic pain and discomfort (especially during ovulation).

What are the main symptoms of endometriosis?

Could you perhaps see another doctor and start again kind of thing? sometimes if they've seen you lots they get annoyed with you coming back - I know not professional but it happens.

You need to push the point that it's in your family, but you also need to know what you want to do about it regarding diagnosis and treatment, do you want surgery to find out and possibly remove anything horrible or just leave it - sometimes docs feel like we just jump at ideas that we hear or look up so seeing another doctor may be a start to explain how all the stuff you have could be related to endo

hope that helps x
