Does anyone else feel like their GP is constantly brushing you off? Starting to get a little bit frustrated

I feel this completely. I pushed and pushed fora lap that found nothing and then I came off the pill and I've pushed for a scan (which is today) and I feel sort of desperate for it to find something to prove to the GP that I'm not wasting their time. It feels soul destroying to know something is wrong and have to keep pushing and being turned away every time, but keep going! You can always ask for a second opinion, I asked for one from my hospital instead of my GP, might be worth a shot? x

Gps can be frustrating i’ve had a few appointments where ive had to explain what endo is.

I got advice from the endometriosis charity who told me where my nearest specialist was which has really helped bypass the GPs .

I try to be firm with the Gps i dont think they understand enough about the disease it so its easier to ignore.

hope this helps

Hi,

The whole process is quite degrading and exhausting isn’t it? I feel the drs twist our desperation for answers into us wanting to have something wrong with us.

I’ve been trying to figure out why my menstrual cycle/hormone fluctuations affect my ability to cope so badly and for so long.

Finally I had a locum GP actually listen and read my past medical history, she suggested endo and made some referrals to get the ball rolling. Still waiting for MRI results as was told a lap would be booked after results were in.

Keep going to the drs, push harder (even though it’s exhausting) fingers crossed someone listens to you.

Wishing you good health and luck xx

I did tiredBFmum. I’ve had two recently as apparently they needed a broader area of imaging before they were happy to write report/discuss results (which has made me anxious) so I’m now waiting for results from both.

vmagpie thats good they are being thorough and you got it on NHS. i really dont want surgery so would quite like an MRI if the next ultrasound is clear before surgery. good luck for your results

Thank you. I hope you get your mri. I think they did it so that when they go for the lap they’re not going in blind. I’ve got a lump in my abdominal wall since c-section along with long history of (endo sounding) symptoms.

I hope you get somewhere with investigations. Best of luck x

A consultant told me last week that I never had a laparoscopy, and that everything was normal. He didn’t even check my records and allow me to explain my symptoms. When I see him next I’ll take my discharge notes from my surgery and I’ll be on my period so I’ll be demanding him to examine me then and tell me if it’s still normal. Not sure if a female would have been as dismissive, it is so infuriating. What really helped me to get seen quickly was the trip I had to take to a and e because I couldn’t stand the pain any longer xx
