So.... I’ve recently had a laparoscopy, and a couple of days ago received my hospital letter detailing the findings..
‘Patches of old endometriosis on both ovarian faucet’
Now, can old endometriosis still be painful? Does ‘old’ mean ‘inactive’? Can it become active again? How do I manage it ? Will it effect fertility?
Can anybody relate to this comment in my letter ?
And also? ‘ovarian faucet’ even google couldn’t help me.. if any of you could shed ANY light on these for me, I would be so grateful. What a minefield.. 🤨
I'm not sure what is meant by "old". I don't think endometriosis ever becomes inactive. That is sort of the point, every cycle it grow and then "sheds" but has no-where to go.
Did you have an MRI as that can show where endo is even in places the surgeons don't like to go?
As for ovarian faucet, I got my Black's Medical Dictionary and my Anatomy and Physiology books out, both of which are used by trainee doctors and neither of them shed any light on this. There are fauces in the mouth, which are where the mouth goes into the throat and many medical terms come from Latin describing the shape or location (for instance cervical means neck shaped whether it is cervical vertebrae in your neck, or the entrance to the womb). But I am at a loss to work out what part of the ovary might relate to faucet.

No she didn’t touch the endometriosis, and no I’ve not had an MRI, I’m planning on having another consultation with her to ask why she didn’t do anything and what I should do next.. she did tell me though that this wouldn’t be the reason for my pain.. So I just wondered if anyone could shed light on the term.

Ahh that does make sense ‘ fossa’ as it also states ‘ hydrosalpings’ in my letter and I’m assuming it’s meant to read ‘hydrosalpinx’ Referring to my Fallopian tube..
