Endo on pod not removed?

I had my excision surgery last week and I received the letter today saying what was removed however there is no mention of them removing it from my pod, which had stage 3 endo on it. Do some surgeons not remove it from that area? As I just assumed he would remove it all, any insight would be great xx

If there in is too much in that area they might not remove it as it might be deemed too complicated. I also have what they described as extensive endometriosis on pouch of Douglas and none was removed because of the amount x

I saw the endo nurse on tuesday to have an ovarian suspension removed and she didn't mention anything about the surgeon leaving some endo behind, I didn't ask either as I just assumed he'd remove it all as I was told he would x

The POD (Pouch of Douglas includes the rectum and thus the bowel; the surgeon will ususally want a bowel surgeon present (colorectal specialist) with them when operating on this area.

I had my first op with my endo / fertility / menstrual issues specialist whom said he'd removed all the endo from everywhere but anything involving the bowel he's left and will schedule an appointment with the bowel specialist he works with so that they can operate together to remove the remaining bit on the bowel. It's just because all the structures around the bowel are best known by a specialist in that area. I was fine with this as it makes sense.

You could ask if they work with other surgeons to remove the bit on your POD and that you'd like it removed so you have as little symptoms as possible. See what they say? They usually coordinate with other surgeons.

I asked my if he had to do the bowel op; he said he's 1/3 for it because I'm still in pain and have symptoms and 2/3 against because it's the bowel and can get complicated. I asked what happens if I don't do anything; he said it can either stay the same or get worse, if it gets worse (it could be months to years) it can perforate the bowel requiring more invasive surgery. I went for it, and it's turned out fine; they just shaved the bit of endo off the outside of the bowel. I was out after an overnight stay.

hope that helps xx
