I have my lap a week on Wednesday and after reading some stuff on this im so scared. Im currently at uni studying nursing and have told the uni id be off for about 2 weeks but im scared its more now

Hey, don’t be scared, it’s nothing to worry about. The staff will be able to put you at ease and they are so chatty, I forgot I was in a hospital.

I recovered in about 2-3 weeks but it does depends on what the surgery involves and the individual.

The worse part I hated was being wheeled into the anaesthetist room as I felt sick from hunger. It takes like 5 seconds to go to sleep and you’ll feel really light headed then wake up recovery.

Hi fieonareochx, I’m also studying nursing in uni and had my lap at the beginning of my second year a year ago. Luckily it was a couple of weeks before I went back but I was fine after a week or so. I’d say not to go to Placement for at least two weeks and to be careful when lifting and turning people but if your in uni id say it’s fine to go back as soon as you feel yourself. After about 5-6 days i felt okay and was able to walk the dog and stuff but did get a little tired but if your only going to be sat in a lecture I don’t see the problem with going back after a week or so. Obviously it depends on you though and how your feeling xx

I had my op whilst still in college, it's not as scary as it sounds on here. I had mine in half term so had just under two weeks at home, then went back to college as normal after that. I got tired easily and my wounds were obviously still healing but I was fine. Take it easy and go at your own pace and there's no reason why two weeks won't be long enough - I was riding my horse (albeit slowly) after two and a half weeks!
