Post laparoscopy stitches

Hi all, had my lap over 2 weeks ago, some of my stitches remain in place. I’ve been to my GP last week who got one out but said that the 2 in my belly button were too tight and to let grow out. She said the one in my side should work it’s way out too. I’m just worried about infection - what’s everyone else’s experiences of post-lap stitches please?

My stitches took around 4 weeks to fall out in total. As long as there is no major redness, anything oozing or itching then they should be fine. Just ensure to keep the area clean and dry x

My stitches are still in my bellybutton and it’s been a month. My doctor said it can take 6 months for them to dissolve. Yay! 😂😫 as long as it’s not red or got pus, you should be okay xx

My stitches took 3 to 4 weeks. The last stitch that was left seemed really tight, but then fell out a couple of days later! I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you keep the area clean :)

I’ve had 4 laps now and each time I’ve had to have the sutures removed. Dissolvable sutures take forever to break down. They need a bit of friction. You could try using some simple soap, lather it up in your hands and use the lather to gently massage the areas with the sutures when you are in the bath or shower to encourage them to break down. Keep the area clean and dry and keep an eye on it for any redness, swelling, oozing, heat or odour as this will indicate infection xxx
