1st period post lap

Hello again everyone!

I had a lap on 8th August (they didn’t find anything which is good and bad I guess) and inserted Mirena at the same time. I *think* I am now on my period, that’s certainly what it feels like. I am on what is probably day 2 or 3 and my pain is not letting up! Bleeding is a lot less but I am in so much pain. I have heard the 1st period can be horrible after a lap but considering I’ve had nothing done I didn’t think it would be this bad. Please tell me this is normal?

Hey, how are you managing?

The first few periode after a lap can be horrible. It's that everything gets moved around, the uterus doesn't like being moved or prodded so yes even though you've not had anything removed etc it'll still all hurt as you're healing. Stuff also has to move back to their normal positions, that can cause pain too.

Your merina coil should kick in soon, you shouldn't have periods or bleeding on that as its like the pill but constant. Some women do take a few months to get used to it. Check out the side effects.

Hey, my first period was last week and it was honestly so painful but I had really heavy bleeding to the point I was feeling faint. The pain is normal as everything is still healing inside xx

Yes it is normal, I had a lap last December where they didn't find anything either (but didn't thoroughly checked...) I literally only had one incision on my belly button but my first period after it was the worst ever, even tramadol wasn't touching it! Take it easy!

Fyi, despite the clear lap my symptoms gets getting worse and I'm now under an endo specialist and having another diagnostic lap in just under a month time! If you have any questions about where to go after a "normal" lap don't hesitate to ask :)

Hi! Thanks for the reassurance. My pain is slightly less today, as in I didn’t wake up at 04:45 in a tremendous amount of pain haha.

Sorry to hear about them not looking properly 😢 I have 2 incisions I’m guessing one of them was for the little pincher things to move my organs about 😷. To be honest they’ve given me quite a bit of reassurance that there is absolutely no endo inside me and I think I’m probably just one of those people who has horrendous period and ovulation pain and I’ve come to terms with that. I’m really hoping the coil will eventually be a miracle worker!

All the best with your next lap! X
