Ovulation Pains

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone experiences horrible pain during their ovulation. Its been getting steadily worse for the last year, and this month I am sat here at work wanting to cry. I have a huge swollen stomach that is sensitive to touch and I feel like I cant even sit down... that sounds strange but its like it pushes things around and it hurts (as well as my bum hurting as well - sorry TMI). I get all this when I am on my period as well, but ovulation didn't used to be as bad but today it the worst!

Just wanting to know whether anyone else has this too! In agony :-(

xx

Before my laporascopy at the beginning of July I didn't have any ovulation pains. I also had an ovarian cyst removal and the first ovulation after that was quite painful. They say it may be due to the fact my ovary needs couple of months to properly heal...?

Yea, me. It’s not excruciating but its uncomfortable in the same areas you mention - also some sex positions are a bit difficult. I’m fine all month apart from ovulation xx

Hey I get bad ovulation pains and I get sharp pains outside of this as well. My doctor thinks it’s just cysts bursting

It hurts to touch as well and I feel the pain around my pubic bone area and the sides xx

I get a lot of pain during ovulation. For years I thought I was getting recurring uti’s or kidney infections until I realised the dates tied up. I get shooting pains as though it’s going up me (sorry tmi) which makes me jump up if I’m sitting down and I have to hold my weight off from sitting as it hurts. My belly will swell up and I get pain going to the toilet as well with it. It sucks but at least for me it’s only ever one day. Xx

Yes that's exactly what I feel too! the shooting pain!! I had to get changed yesterday as the jeans I was wearing were way to tight on my stomach! had to get into leggings instead so I was comfortable :-( I do have an appointment with a consultant on the 29th of August ... fingers crossed I get some answers. The pains are getting worse each month which worries me. xx

Hi. As I type i am experiencing this same thing. Started yesterday afternoon. Its excruciating. Last night i felt like i couldnt breathe...everything hurt. Sitting, standing, lying all painful. I've got to go work now but need to find the baggiest clothes i have cos of my swollen endo belly. I also get this during my period and like now occasionally throughout my cycle, does seem to be getting worse month-on-month. I'm not sure if to bother GP but the pain i was in last night i wanted to go a&e! Its settled to a point this morning but still very painful. I hope you get the help you need to get things under control.

Its just horrible isn't it! Yep baggy clothes is the only option and if anything touches my stomach I was to scream. I just had to lay on the sofa yesterday evening and not move... just horrible. Feeling a little better today, but sore everywhere, sort of like iv been beaten up! Really hope your pains stop soon and you get some help! :-( its just horrible xx

If you were considering a&e you won’t be bothering the gp, go and have a chat with them and see if there’s anything they can do. We are all the same, spend too much time in pain not wanting to bother anyone. It concerns you just get it checked out 🤗

I agree if it's bad to go to a&e get an MRI and you can cut out the waiting time on getting a referral for a pelvic MRI. I did this twice in the new year as had became urinary incontinent to a degree. Make sure they know you are talking gynae issues as I had them MRI my spine and it was because I talked more of back pain than the pelvic pain and shooting pain there as I had both. A Dr put his finger up my bottom as they were concerned I had spine damage with the urinary incontincy so it all got very confusing.

Later diagnosis confirmed severe endometriosis.

Good luck.

Hi all, I get excruciating pain for about 2 years and I kept going to my doctor to check why I was getting the pain. I was referred to the gyna, went to appointment for about 2 times, but eventually I don’t get any appointment from the gyna anymore. I decided to change my lifestyle and what I eat to healthily. Seeing changes now though. Remember those years of experiencing excruciating pain, I would not be able to do anything or leave the house but now not the same. I quite feel and understand the experiences read. What I get now though is spotting after period or menstrual cycle go beyond the expected time. Does anyone have this too?

I get the exact same – horrible pain around ovulation, abdominal as well as in my bum too like you! And sometimes radiating down my thigh. Mine's been getting progressively worse for the past year, the last two months the worst yet. I know exactly what will trigger it (bowel movements, walking up hills, certain exercise, sometimes even just going to the toilet at all!). The only saving grace is that my pains only ever last a max of half an hour at a time – then they vanish (for a while) and I feel a little silly! I've started carrying a mini hot water bottle around in my handbag when I'm ovulating, my partner's had to ask them to fill it up at cafes and bars! Sorry you're experiencing it, it's horrible x

Thank you for your reply. You have enlightened me that certain exercises do trigger it. I wouldn’t know that cause I do do exercises indoors thinking it might help😒. I have start to get use to hot water bottle too and it’s a relief but what a joy to not have to do all these for comfort. So sorry to hear that yours has gotten worsen in year. Are you still seeing your gynaecologist and Gp? Its best to track them up cause that’s what I’m doing now before it escalate.

Yes, and everythibg you said I would feel due to Endometriosis and I had this on my right ovary.

Shooting stabbing pain like clockwork at ovulation.

Pain in rectum pain to go No. 2 in menstrauation.

Please seek a gynaecology referral for an MRI to seek womb conditions out.

Good luck.

Take lots of Ibufrofen and co codemol for pain relief.

I had the same thing. I never used to suffer any pain and then each month it grew steadily worse to the point I was in tears each month. I had an ultrascan and it showed endometriomas on my ovaries. After my laparoscopy To remove them, I’ve not had any pain. Could be worth asking for an ultrasound xx

Sorry for late reply. Yes, it is just as you have said. I have been for ultrasound some months ago but prior to that, my gynaecologist prescribed me esmya tablets which I took for 3 months. After that, I was sent for ultrasound which was said that I had fibroids but they gotten smaller. Since that time I have not had any appointments with my gynaecologist and I’m experiencing pain at the moment. A week gone after my period and still spotting🤦🏾‍♀️
