Follow-up Appointment and Treatment

Hello 🙂

I’m hoping some of you might be able to give me a few tips... I had my laparoscopy in March and was (finally!) diagnosed with endo. I’ve got my follow up appointment on Monday and have been thinking about what I need to ask or find out about. So far this is all I’ve thought of:

- where exactly the endo was found. I know womb and ureter were mentioned but can’t remember much else.

- what stage/how severe it was

- how to treat it going forward. My consultant did mention at the time that he didn’t personally think the coil was a good match for me, which tbh I’m starting to think as well, so I want to discuss my other options with him.

Have I forgotten anything that I should be asking? What types of things did you ask your consultant or wish you’d asked afterwards? I never had a follow up after my first lap so want to make sure I cover all bases!

Was your endo excised? Was it all excised? Was any left behind due to being in difficult to treat places? Did you have a multi disciplinary team approach with colorectal and urology Consultants? Will you need further surgery? Xxx

Thank you! I hadn’t even considered that some may be left behind - I (very naively!) assumed they would just take everything while they were there xx

It’s very important to ask if all of your endo was excised. During my second laparoscopy a lot was left behind due to being in hard to treat places (and the colorectal and urology teams weren’t involved in my second op). They were in my first & third and I have much better outcomes from first & third. This is, in my opinion, crucial to know xxx

Thank you! I’m in Scotland so will check our version of the NHS guidelines for endo, but I hadn’t even thought about the fact that if it was on my ureters I may need someone else too. I always forget about the NICE guidelines too x
