When will I know for sure?!

Hi ladies,

So I had my diagnostic lap yesterday. I was first on the list so was in and out pretty quickly all things considered. So glad to be home, I'm really sore this morning the pain in my ribs and shoulders is horrendous and feeling a bit like I robot when I try to move around, I'm sure this will ease in time. Any way after surgery my surgeon went straight back in to theatre and was unable to come round and see me to discuss what they had found. I asked the nurse if she could advise and she showed me my notes. I was abit out of it but I did see, endometriotic deposits found - diathermy to endometriosis. Mirena coil fitted as well. Does this mean I have endo? The nurse said they would write to me with their findings? How long will I wait? My discharge notes say no follow up required with gynae but if I need him in the short term just to call the secretary. If symptoms persist after recovery to be referred by my GP??? I'm a little confused. Do I just wait for this letter? I need to see my gp in 6-8 for coil check, is this it?

Any advise would be appreciated, curious if anyone else has been or is in same position as myself?

Sounds like you have been (fully) treated for endometriosis and discharged from the hospital. It would be nice to at least for the surgeon to talk to you after the operation and inform you what happened 😡. Maybe make an appointment to see your GP in a few weeks to find out what is going on.

Thank you for your reply. I did think it was really strange I kind feel like I was discharged without knowing anything. I was out of yesterday and just wanted to be home but now I am it's made me think about it a lot more x

Hi, sorry to hear that you've had so little feedback. Sounds like your gynae is rushed off their feet. But however busy they will always write a letter to your GP with the outcome, which should be copied to you. If not, your GP should share it with you as it is NHS policy that letters are copied to patients these days.

The letters commonly take 2-3 weeks, but given your gynae is so busy, I guess it might be longer. By your six week check, it should certainly have arrived.
