Hi ladies, I saw my consultant Wednesday and he has said I should think about having a hysterectomy due to 8 years of pain and bleeding etc I have pcos and waiting for a lap in October to diagnose endo. I'm just wondering if anyone has been through a hysterectomy in their early 20s I'm only 22 and think it's a huge decision!
Hysterectomy : Hi ladies, I saw my... - Endometriosis UK
Hysterectomy
That's such a big step to take. Maybe wait until you have your lap and understand the extent of your endo first. In the meantime do some research so you know what questions to ask, and we are all here for you.
Is it a bsge consultant? Xx
Hysterectomy is not really considered a treatment or solution to Endo. You need a diagnosis bgse is British gynaecology service for Endo google it and check out NHS choices general gynaecologist are generally inept when it comes to diagnosing and treating Endo so check out the bgse near you and request a referral to the one you want via the gp under NHS choices you have the right to choice your consultant. When I did this I printed off the details of bgse and the NHS guidelines and gave them to my go. That way they couldn't argue. It's a long wait but much better then general gynae who can be clueless and miss the Endo. Please don't have a hysterectomy Go and see bgse as they are the specialists. I'm 44 and have been told hysterectomy not a solution it won't sort the Endo and could cause other problems it's your choice but you need to know your options and rights. Xx
I'm a lot older than you with stage 4. Three options say total hysterectomy . If I was your age I would wait and see what what they find with the Lap then seek another option too. A very skilled excision surgeon would hopefully be able to help you. X
