Ovulation bleeding and pain

Hey! So I'm 23, I had a lap for endo in the Pouch of Douglas just over 2 years ago and had some symptomatic relief for a few months but the pain has been slowly but surely building up again and for the past couple of months I've been in agony. My cycle lengths have been getting gradually longer recently and I've felt like something is different, but I can't quite but my finger on what it is. Today is cycle day 19 of 32/33 day cycles (used to always have 28 day cycles until recently) and I woke up this morning to find that I was bleeding lightly. In the morning it was light pink but it has gotten darker throughout the day and is now dark brown clots when I wipe accompanied by quite severe pain in my groin, legs and lower back. I've never had ovulation bleeding before so I'm a bit freaked out. Has anyone else experienced this? I've been having full blown anxiety attacks about it and thinking the absolute worst (the C word).

Hi KT20, Oh to be 23 again....but with the knowledge I have now! At your age I was dismissed as 'having bad period pain' and even after a lap (my 2nd) they failed to spot the endo which I ended up having to deal with this last year (at 43!).

I was often admitted to hospital with the most horrendous stomach pain - this is what led to my having 3 lap procedures prior to the one which discovered stage IV endo. On reflection, I realised that it was pain from ovulation. I also had bleeding and ended up having to go on the pill just to deal with what they called 'irregular periods' because I was having two bleeds per month. The pill was not the answer for me as it turned me into a crazy person!

The long and short of this post is to say that you should definitely get back to your doctor. DONT let them fob you off! They did that to me for 24 years of my life before finally 'fixing' my problem at the end of December. Sadly, docs are not very good at diagnosing or treating endo patients and we generally have to fight to be heard. Are you in the uk? If so, there are several endo specialist centres around the uk and if you already had an endo diagnosis in pouch of Douglas, you are absolutely entitled to ask to be referred to one of them.

If I had known all of this when I was your age, I wouldn't have lost my young adulthood to pain, fatigue and feeling like I must be some sort of wimp, or even crazy, that my periods hurt so bad. Please, take another person along with you if you don't feel that you would be able to stand up to your doc and demand the treatment that you are entitled to.

If nothing else, worrying about 'the C word' won't make it go away if it IS that - which I hope and pray that it isn't (and statistically probably won't be). With any cancer, the sooner you get diagnosed and treated, the better the chance of a positive outcome. And if it's not, you will have started a journey to get your body to behave itself better and for you to be better monitored and treated.

I truly hope you go to a specialist centre and get help soon. As I said, I wish I had, but knowing I can maybe help other young women to not suffer the same as I did - even if it's just one woman - will help me feel better about my experience.

i had mid-cycle bleeding with mine. in my case it was caused my growths in my womb. polyps i think. they operated on my pouch of Douglas, but where unable to remove them due to me bleeding too much. after the op i started taking serraptase, three months later something fell out of me. it was 3 in the morning, and i just chucked it away. My mid-cycle bleeding stopped, so i asked the doctor to look in my womb and the growth was gone. i cant promise you these results. But if you are in the UK and therefore have to wait months to be seen you may as well try it.

i still take it and find it helps with pain, i stopped for 3 months recently and it dint take long before I started having an increase in endo symptoms. basically I think all endo sufferers should take this.
