Hi, I'm 4.5 weeks post bowel shave and RV nodule excision but not hysterectomy and I am shattered. It's major surgery and can't take several months to recover X

Removal of a 3 cm Endo lump attaching my bowel to my vagina ( RV = recto vaginal sorry ) and lots of adhesions that were pulling my bowel out of place anatomically. I lost 4 cm2 of my vagina as it was too damaged to save. Also had Endo patches removed from bladder and peritoneum near ovaries

Had it all my life and never knew. I started fainting unexpectedly last few years then developed chronic fatigue bowel and bladder issues . GP found the lump a year ago. My surgery went from 2 hours to over 4 as was much worse than they thought from scan. I am lucky to have escaped a bowel resection. It's been tough. I had bad complications and spent a week in hospital after surgery and lost a lot of weight. It's a slow journey recovering. I hear it can take months to adjust after hysterectomy so go easy.

Hi. I'm nearly 7 weeks post op. TLH BSO and excision of stage 4 endo. The fatigue is awful. I'm really struggling with insomnia too. I go to bed shattered and still can't sleep. Apparently it's one of the biggest side effects and lasts months 😢X

Yes I had everything taken. My belly is ok until about 3 in the afternoon then starts bloating. I've lost a stone in weight since my op, I've got no appetite at all. I'm sure once 'normal life' is resumed the sleep issue will resolve itself. I've been out of bed just over an hour and could just crawl back into it now. When I do sleep I get awful vivid dreams xx

Gilly1975 in reply to babykaren

Yes I'm on HRT patches. I was going to keep my ovaries at first but my surgeon and I decided to take the lot in the end as I wanted to reduce the chance of the endometriosis coming back. Even after all this, he said there is only a 60% chance of it working. I had to take the chance as I couldn't carry on like I was x

Oh that's awful. I really hate hospitals! My surgeons are great but my aftercare hasn't been great. Because I go through an endo centre I have a nurse that I can call. Over the last 3 weeks I've had infections and bleeding but my nurse was on leave with no cover so had to go through my gp who is useless. Too early to say if I feel any different yet. Have my follow up next Wednesday. Are you still getting pain?

Hi babykaren. I'm 4 weeks post op and had everything removed apart from ovaries like yourself. I had prostap injection in april but still having side effects, hot flushes and severe night sweats. My dr prescribed me amitriptyline to help me sleep they are a god send. I am suffering with fatigue don't t know if its my tablets or after effects from my operation.

Lallya in reply to babykaren

The injection was april 2017 only had 1 injection to last until my op. Consultant said it last 12 weeks mine has lasted alot longer. Nearly 20 weeks. I'm 37 so it's not the official menopause i hope. Just hoping it wears off soon. I had aching bones and joints like i had flu still have but not as painful. I was put on hrt to prevent the side effects to which i had a reaction to hrt really tender breast and mega headaches. Changed hrt to another then bled for the full month. I decided to put up with hot sweats. What us women have to go through. You seem to be having as much as a bad time as me. Hope theres light at the end of the tunnel for us both x

I'm from bolton but now live in wigan. I'm getting frustrated with taking it easy now and just want to do normal things like driving and hoovering how sad do i sound lol. People keep asking have i become emotional yet? Have you? Small steps not big leaps i keep telling myself. X

babykaren in reply to Lallya

Hi hun no you don't sound sad at all am same I hovered the other day an now paying price be patient with yrslf it's very frustrating am not emotional are you bit ratty lol but thing it's tiredness didn't have ovaries removed did you x

Lallya profile image
Lallya in reply to babykaren

No i don't feel ratty or emotional yet. I feel exhausted all the time even though i haven't done anything. My ovaries are still in consultant wouldn't remove them due to my age. I'm getting breathless when i walk far eg supermarket. I was due back at work end of this month but don't think that will be happening. Just take each day as it comes. I'm trying to do more each day to build up my strength. I'm due a course of vitamin d injections as my levels were very low. This might help with my fatigue. That's if i can face injecting myself. X
